* Text Size
Use the first page of the Desktop’s Properties notebook to set the text in folders, menus, titlebars, and most dialogs to a size best suited for the current screen size and resolution.
* Large Icons in XCenter
XCenter’s Properties notebook allows selection of Large (full-size) or Mini (half-size) icons. The WinList widget allows setting its icon size separately from XCenter as well as the choice of text, icons, or both on its buttons.
* Low Battery Alert
The Battery widget now has a Properties page to set up the widget’s new alert. Set the level at which a warning should pop up (e.g. at 15%), and optionally, set follow-up warnings whenever the level drops another specified percent (say, 5%).
Updates and Bugfixes
* XStartup
Large parts of the XStartup code have been rewritten for improved reliability
* XWP Help
A Table of Contents has been added to the XWP Help system to organize its many pages into 21 top-level topics.
* Other Changes
* XShutdown has been revised to invoke Text Size’s shutdown processing when updates occur. Related code has been refactored.
* An undocumented setup string has been added to XFldDesktop to enable Styler and other shutdown utilities to invoke Text Size’s shutdown processing when changes are pending.
* ‘xwptrap.log’ has been partially reformatted to make it less versbose.
* ‘h2i.exe’ which converts HTML help to .INF format has been revised to support an optional “Table of Contents” mode.
* ‘xunlock.exe’ has been added to the distro to ensure scripts always have access to an “unlock” utility. It returns 0 if the file is now unlocked and >0 if it remains locked or an error occured.
* A rewrite of the Window List widget should ensure that its last button doesn’t paint over the widget to its right.
* Code to read the display’s EDID has been added to support future Text Size enhancements. |

Welkom bij XWorkplace V1.0.16
XWorkplace is een complexe geheel van vervangings classes
voor de Workplace Shell van OS/2 om het gedrag van de WPS
in veel opzichten uit te breiden.
Dit LEESMIJ bestand bevat veel extra informatie die niet is te
vinden in de XWorkplace Gebruikers handleiding.
Lees dit LEESMIJ bestand a.u.b. voor installatie door.
Na de installatie vindt u dit LEESMIJ bestand in de hoofd
installatie directory van XWorkplace.
Over deze vrijgave
------------------
Dit is de eerste vrijgave vanuit de 1.1 boom met daarin de
bugfixes die verzameld zijn sinds de laatste 1.0 vrijgaves.
Voor details, kijk in de "Version Notices" in de
"XWorkplace Gebruikers handleiding".
Om alleen de documentatie te installeren, zie "3. INSTALLATIE" hieronder.
2. BENODIGHEDEN
===============
XWorkplace is ontwikkeld en getest onder eComStation.
Opm.: In tegenstelling tot de eerdere vrijgaves zullen
XWorkplace 1.0.0 en hoger NIET LANGER werken op OS/2 Warp 3.
DUS PROBEER HET NIET TE INSTALLEREN OP WARP 3.
Er zijn ook meldingen van XWorkplace problemen met Warp 4 als
de laatste fixpacks niet zijn geïnstalleerd, maar dat is nog
niet het test team bevestigd.
De volgende OS/2 versies zijn veilig, omdat zij zijn gebaseerd
op ruwweg dezelfde IBM code:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer voor e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation 1.x / 2.x
XWorkplace 1.0.4 en hoger leveren toegang tot extra informatie
over stuurprogramma's. De volgende benodigdheden zijn van toepassing:
-- Het CFGDAT.INF bestand uit het ConfigTool freeware pakket moet
aanwezig zijn in een directory van een pad dat is opgegeven in
de BOOKSHELF omgevingsvariabele in de CONFIG.SYS.
-- De uigebreide help weergever NewView moet geïnstalleerd zijn of
als een complete vervanging van VIEW.EXE of als een alleenstaand
programma met het uitvoerbare bestand in een PATH en de DLL
aanwezig in het LIBPATH statements.
3. INSTALLATIE
==============
XWorkplace moet m.b.v. WarpIN worden geïnstalleerd. Nadat alle bestanden
zijn gekopieerd, zal Warpin de Workplace Shell opnieuw starten om er
zeker van te zijn dat alle wijzigingen actief worden. Herstarten zal niet
nodig zijn.
Als u op dit moment nog niet weet of u XWorkplace wilt gebruiken, kunt ook
alleen het "Documetation" package selecteren uit het archief. Op deze wijze
kan eerst de documentatie van XWorkplace gelezen worden en kan besloten worden
om alsnog alles te installeren. Om het later te installeren, klik dan simpel
weg opnieuw op de .WPI van het XWorplace archief.
Enige WAARSCHUWINGEN:
-- MAAK, voor de installie, in ieder geval EEN BACKUP VAN DE WPS.
-- Er is gemeld dat de Workplace Shell zichzelf 'ophangt' na het
herstarten als u de "Automatisch vergrendelen bij opstarten" instellingen
heeft ingeschakeld. In dat geval, schakel deze instelling uit voor dat
WarpIN de WPS mag herstarten.
Installeren op eComStation
--------------------------
Als u xWP installeert op eComStation, weet dan dat eCS
een speciale versie van XWorkplace bevat die conflicteert
met de 'losse' versie. Doe een van de volgende dingen:
* Installeer deze vrijgave van XWorkplace over de versie
die zit in eCS heen -- d.w.z., als WarpIN u vraagt naar de
doel directory geef dan op:
?:\ecs\system\ewps (? uw opstart station).
Merkop dat dit de versie die in eCS zit, zal overschrijven
en dat dat niet eenvoudig kan worden hersteld.
* Als alternatief, verlaat nu deze XWorkplace installatie en
de-installeer eerst de eCS versie door het uitvoeren van
?:\ecs\system\ewps\install\deinst.cmd
Herstart uw werkplek (of herstart de PC), en installeer dan
XWorkplace in een willkeurige directory.
4. BIJWERKEN
============
Bijwerken vanuit XWorkplace
---------------------------
BELANRIJK: Als u installeert terwijl de WPS draait (wat het meest
waarschijnlijke is), zal WarpIN u bevestigingsdialogen laten zien
over de bestanden die momenteel in gebruik zijn, als meest belangrijke,
XFLDR031.DLL. Dat is normaal omdat die modules worden geladen als de
WPS (en dus XWorkplace) draait.
In deze dialogen, MOET u "Unlock (DosReplaceModule)" selecteren,
anders wordt uw installatie niet volledig bijgewerkt.
Als u dit bericht krijgt voor een help bestand (.HLP uitbreiding),
wordt het help bestand van XWorkplace open gehouden door de WPS.
Helaas is het met OS/2 niet mogelijk om gegevens bestanden automatisch
te ontkoppelen (unlock). Om het helpbestand te ontkoppelen, terwijl de
'gekoppeld' dialoog wordt getoond, open een standaard WPS help
venster (bijv. door op een lege plek op de werkplek te klikken en F1 in
te drukken), dit zal het XWorkplace help bestand ontkoppelen.
Daarnaast krijgt u waarschijnlijk een informatie bericht dat de
XWPDAEM.EXE draait en dat die gesloten moeten worden. Laat WarpIN dat
programma sluiten (dat is de XWorkplace Daemon).
Dit is het ongelukkige neven effect dat al uw 'XWorkplace Opstart' mappen,
starten als u accepteert wat WarpIN aanbiedt het starten van de werkplek
aan het einde van de installatie, zelfs als zij zijn ingsteld om alleen te
starten bij het herstarten.
Als dit een probleem is, moet u het aanbod om de Werkplek opnieuw te starten
weigeren, en u moet handmatig herstarten nadat de installatie gereed is.
Als het bijwerken niet werkt, laat dan WarpIN de geïnstalleerde XWorkplace
versie eerst verwijderen, herstart de WPS en installeer dan de nieuwe versie.
Bijwerken vanuit XFolder
------------------------
XWorkplace is de opvolger van XFolder V0.85.
XWorkplace en XFolder kunnen niet samenwerken, omdat XWorkplace
alle mogelijkheden bevat van XFolder 0.85 plus veel bugfixes
en zelfs meer mogelijkheden.
Met als resultaat, als XFolder is geïnstalleerd, XWorkplace uw XFolder
installatie zal uitschakelen.
Toch moet u XWorkplace in een ANDERE directory installeren dan de bestaande
XFolder directory om er zeker van te zijn dat geen bestandsconflicten ontstaan.
Verscheidene mensen hebben laten weten dat het installeren in dezelfde directory
de WPS kan laten hangen
XWorkplace kan uw bestaande XFolder 0.85 instellingen, indien aanwezig overnemen.
U zal daar tijdens de eerste WPS herstart na de installatie
om worden gevraagd. Echter er zijn veel nieuwe instellingen bijgekomen, dus
veel zal worden uitgeschakeld.
Als u prefereert om later terug te gaan naar uw bestaande XFolder installatie
(uiteindelijk, is dit een ontwikkelaars vrijgave), laat WarpIN dan XWorkplace
de-installeren en installeer XFolder weer door het gebruik van het INSTALL.CMD
in uw XFolder directory. Uw oude XFolder instellingen worden door XWorkplace
niet beïnvloed
5. TAAL ONDERSTEUNING
=====================
Dit archief bevat alleen de taal ondersteuning voor Nederlands,
een paar uitzonderingen daar gelaten die nog niet vertaald zijn.

6. BEGINNEN
===========
Open in ieder geval, na installatie, eerst het nieuwe "XWorkplace Instellingen"
object en ga naar de "Kenmerken" pagina. Dit is de meest centrale
plaats om de mogelijkheden van XWorkplace in te schakelen. Klik op de "Help"
toets voor meer informatie.

Installazione
=============
Questo pacchetto contiene il supporto in lingua italiana (NLS) per la
versione 1.0.16 di XWorkplace.
Ultimo aggiornamento: 9 giugno 2008
Alla pagina "System Configuration", lasciando selezionata l'impostazione
"Create WPS objects" WarpIN provvederà a tradurre automaticamente in
italiano i nomi degli oggetti WPS di XWorkplace. Leggete in proposito
il punto 2 in "Problemi noti e limitazioni". Si può ottenere in un secondo
tempo lo stesso effetto dell'opzione "Create WPS objects" lanciando lo
script REXX "instl039.cmd", nella sottocartella "install" del percorso di
installazione di XWorkplace.
All'inizio dell'installazione potrebbe presentarsi una finestra di errore dal
titolo "File locked": selezionate "Unlock" per procedere.
Al termine dell'installazione il supporto per la lingua italiana viene attivato
automaticamente ed entra in uso al primo riavvio della WPS.
Problemi noti e limitazioni
===========================
1. Per motivi di consistenza, la stringa identificativa del pacchetto per
la lingua italiana è cambiata. Nel caso si fosse già installata una
precedente versione di questo pacchetto, la voce relativa nel database
di WarpIN non verrà sovrascritta dalla presente versione e, se lo si
desidera, andrà rimossa manualmente.
2. Nella conversione in italiano dei nomi degli oggetti WPS relativi ad
XWorkplace andranno perdute tutte le personalizzazioni, ad es. le voci
di menu addizionali o i cambiamenti apportati alle stringhe di testo
visualizzate nelle barre di stato (oggetto "Workplace Shell", pagina
"Barre di stato - 2").
3. Se si sceglie una lingua differente dall'oggetto "Impostazioni
XWorkplace", è possibile che l'XCenter resti impostato sulla lingua
precedente. Per risolvere il problema è sufficiente chiudere e
riaprire l'XCenter.
4. Nell'oggetto "Kernel OS/2", la schermata di configurazione delle
impostazioni per il file system JFS è in inglese
(http://xtracker.netlabs.org/index.php?bug=690).
5. Il file .INF ("Guida ad XWorkplace") è, a differenza dell'aiuto in
linea, scarsamente aggiornato. Può capitare di trovare riferimenti
a tab, pagine impostazioni ed oggetti che non esistono più. In questi
casi fate riferimento all'aiuto in linea, molto più esteso e sempre
aggiornato. Restano valide ed utilissime tutte le pagine della Guida
in cui si spiegano i meccanismi interni di XWorkplace e della WPS.

Добро пожаловать в XWorkplace V1.0.16.
XWorkplace - это сложный набор классов замены для OS/2 Workplace
Shell, который во многих отношениях улучшает поведение WPS.
XWorkplace поставляется в двух вариантах: классическая полная версия
XWP со всеми свойствами и бесчисленными опциями конфигурации или
более новая версия Lite, предварительно настроенная на лучшее из XWP.
Большинство установок ArcaOS и eComStation включают настроенные
версии XWP Lite, известные как "ArcaDesktop" и "eWorkplace".
Обратитесь к соответствующему поставщику за обновлениями этих версий.
Этот README содержит дополнительную информацию, которая не включена
в Руководство пользователя XWorkplace. Пожалуйста, прочитайте всё

2. ТРЕБОВАНИЯ
===============
XWorkplace в настоящее время разрабатывается и тестируется под
ArcaOS, но должен работать с любой из этих версий OS/2:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer for e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation v1.x / v2.x
-- ArcaOS v5.x
Свойства, основанные на ACPI (например, отключение питания или
температура процессора), требуют, чтобы система использовала
совместимую версию 'ACPI.PSD'.
3. ИНСТАЛЛЯЦИЯ
===============
XWorkplace должен быть установлен с использованием WarpIN. После
того как все файлы будут скопированы, WarpIN перезапустит Workplace
Shell, чтобы изменения вступили в силу. Перезагрузка не потребуется.
Архив .WPI состоит из 3 пакетов: "XWP kernel", файлы поддержки
языка и документация. Хотя обычно устанавливаются все 3, Вы можете
выбрать только документацию или только языковую поддержку, если
хотите.
Некоторые ПРЕДУПРЕЖДЕНИЯ:
-- В любом случае, перед установкой сделайте РЕЗЕРВНУЮ КОПИЮ WPS.
-- Было сообщено, что Workplace Shell зависает после перезапуска,
если у вас включена функция "Автоматическая блокировка при
запуске". Если это так, отключите этот параметр, прежде чем
разрешить WarpIN перезапустить WPS.
4. ОБНОВЛЕНИЕ
============
Для обновления требуется установщик WarpIN, чтобы заменить файлы,
которые используются в данный момент. Когда он спрашивает о
заблокированных файлах, обязательно выберите "Unlock
(DosReplaceModule)". Если он сообщает, что 'xwpdaemn.exe' запущен
и должен быть уничтожен, разрешите ему сделать это. Если Вы получите
подсказку что файл .HLP заблокирован, откройте и закройте справку
WPS, чтобы разблокировать его: щёлкните мышкой на Десктоп, затем
нажмите 'F1'.
Предупреждение: Уничтожение файла 'xwpdaemn.exe' приводит к
нежелательному побочному эффекту запуска всех Ваших стартовых папок
XWorkplace, если Вы принимаете предложение WarpIN перезагрузить
Десктоп в конце установки, даже если они настроены на запуск только
при перезагрузках. Если это проблема, отклоните предложение
перезапустить Десктоп и перезагрузите компьютер вручную после
завершения инсталляции.
Если обновление не работает, используйте WarpIN чтобы удалить
установленную версию XWorkplace, перезапустите WPS, а затем
инсталлируйте новую версию.
Обновление ArcaDesktop и eWorkplace
------------------------------------
Возможно, Вы захотите связаться с Вашим поставщиком для их
индивидуального обновления перед установкой универсальной версии
XWorkplace. Если Вы решите продолжить, Вы можете установить XWP Lite
для получения сопоставимого набора свойств или XWP Full для всех
свойств. Помните, что значки и заголовки некоторых объектов XWP
могут измениться.
5. ПОДДЕРЖКА НАЦИОНАЛЬНЫХ ЯЗЫКОВ
============================
Xworkplace (Full и Lite) в настоящее время распространяется в семи
версиях NLS: немецкая, голландская, итальянская, японская, испанская,
русская и английская.
Чтобы изменить язык установки, переустановите, используя нужную
версию NLS, но выберите только пакет языковой поддержки. Если Вы
установили XWP Full, Вы можете использовать его объект "XWorkplace
Setup", чтобы выбрать любой из установленных языков.
Примечание: дополнительные версии NLS, содержащие только файлы
языковой поддержки, могут быть доступны от сторонних
производителей.
6. БЫСТРЫЙ СТАРТ
==================
Пользователи XWorkplace Full первым должны открыть объект
"XWorkplace Setup". Перейдите на страницу "Features" чтобы
изучить и включить XWorkplace.
XWorkplace Lite поставляется предварительно настроенным с
большинством включённых свойств.
Для обеих версий большинство параметров интегрированы в объекты WPS
в папке System Setup; дополнительные параметры также можно найти на
страницах блокнота свойств Десктоп.

INTRODUCTION

The original Japanese XWorkplace translation was done by Jun Mikami and
can still be found at <http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley/1300/>.
It does not appear to have been updated since version 1.0.1, however.
Using these sources, I have updated it for XWorkplace 1.0.9. This mostly
involved reorganizing the file contents slightly, but it did require the
addition of a handful of new strings. (My Japanese is limited, so they
may be slightly strange, but I tried to do my best.)
KNOWN PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS
At present, only the language DLL, the message file, and object creation
are available in Japanese. The following are all still in English:
* The help file and documentation (although I did update a couple of
the more language-critical screenshots)
* The WarpIN installer text.
* The text used in the XFix utility.
* The driver descriptions used in the Kernel object.
* The WPS class descriptions used in the Class List object.
* The README and README.NLS files.
There is some slight text clipping visible in the WPS class list.
As well, the vertical spacing in various dialogs will tend to be rather
crowded if you have the desktop's default dialog font set to a smallish
value like 9.WarpSans or 8.Helv.
When the XPager is first enabled (or immediately following a reinstall),
the desktop IME controls may not become "sticky" until you reboot.
XWorkplace automatically sets the font on most of its dialogs to
9.WarpSans, instead of using the desktop's default dialog font. This
means that DBCS glyphs will be displayed using Presentation Manager's
automatic glyph substitution, instead of the "Combined" font glyphs.
I have not observed any problems with this, but it is possible that it
could affect the display quality of glyphs under some situations.
You may see some garbled text in the Trash Can folder immediately after
it is first created. As far as I can tell, this should go away once
you reboot.
REQUIREMENTS
You should use this NLS package under the Japanese DBCS version of
OS/2, with codepage 932 as the default.
It will install and run under SBCS versions (like US English), but none
of the Japanese text will be readable (unless you take some special and
rather unorthodox steps which are really not recommended).

1. INTRODUCTION
===============
Welcome to XWorkplace V1.0.16.
XWorkplace is a complex set of replacement classes for the
OS/2 Workplace Shell to enhance the WPS's behavior in many
ways.
XWorkplace comes in two flavors: the classic XWP Full version
with all features and endless configuration options, or the
newer Lite version that's preconfigured with the best of XWP.
Most ArcaOS and eComStation installations include customized
versions of XWP Lite, known as "ArcaDesktop" and "eWorkplace".
Contact the respective vendor for updates to those versions.
This README has additional information which is not included
in the XWorkplace User Guide. Please read through all of this
before installing.
After installation, you can find this README in the main
install directory.
About this release
------------------
This release from the SVN 1.0 branch includes all enhancements
and bugfixes currently available.
For details, refer to the "Version Notices" in the
"XWorkplace User Guide". To extract the documentation
only, see "3. INSTALLATION" below.
2. REQUIREMENTS
===============
XWorkplace is currently developed and tested under ArcaOS
but should work with any of these versions of OS/2:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer for e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation v1.x / v2.x
-- ArcaOS v5.x
Features that rely on ACPI (e.g. power-off or CPU temperature)
require the system to use a compatible version of 'ACPI.PSD'.
3. INSTALLATION
===============
XWorkplace must be installed using WarpIN. After all files
have been copied, WarpIN will restart your Workplace Shell
to make sure the changes become active. A reboot should not
be necessary.
The .WPI archive is structured as 3 packages: the "XWP kernel",
language-support files, and documentation. While you would
normally install all 3, you can choose just documentation or
only language-support if desired.
Some WARNINGS:
-- In any case, before installing, MAKE A WPS BACKUP.
-- It was reported that the Workplace Shell hangs after
a restart if you have "Automatic lockup on startup"
enabled. If so, disable that setting before allowing
WarpIN to restart the WPS.
4. UPGRADING
============
An upgrade requires the WarpIN installer to replace files that
are currently in use. When it asks about locked files, be sure
to select "Unlock (DosReplaceModule)". If it reports that
'xwpdaemn.exe' is running and must be killed, allow it to do so.
Should you get prompted that a .HLP file is locked, opening and
closing WPS help will unlock it: click on the Desktop then press F1.
Warning: killing 'xwpdaemn.exe' has the unfortunate side-effect
of making all your XWorkplace Startup Folders start if you accept
WarpIN's offer to restart the desktop at the end of installation,
even if they are set to start on reboots only. If this is a problem,
decline the offer to restart the Desktop, and reboot manually after
installation has completed.
If upgrading doesn't work, have WarpIN remove the installed
XWorkplace version first, restart the WPS, and then install
the new version.
Upgrading ArcaDesktop and eWorkplace
------------------------------------
You may want to contact your vendor for their customized upgrade
before installing a generic version of XWorkplace. If you choose
to proceed, you can install either XWP Lite to get a comparable set
of features or XWP Full for all features. Be aware that the icons
and titles of some XWP objects may change.
5. NATIONAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT
============================
Xworkplace (Full and Lite) is currently distributed in seven NLS
versions: German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian,
and English.
To change your installation's language, reinstall using the
desired NLS version but only select the language-support package.
If you've installed XWP Full, you can use its "XWorkplace Setup"
object to select any of the installed languages.
Note: additional NLS versions containing only language-support
files may be available from 3rd-parties.
6. GETTING STARTED
==================
XWorkplace Full users should open the "XWorkplace Setup" object
first. Go to the "Features" page to explore and enable XWorkplace.
XWorkplace Lite comes preconfigured with most features enabled.
For both versions, most settings are integrated into WPS objects
in the System Setup folder; additional options can also be found
in the pages of the Desktop's Properties notebook.

Dieses Archiv enthält die deutsche Sprachunterstützung (NLS) für
XWorkplace 1.0.16.
Dieses LIESMICH.NLS umfaßt zusätzliche Informationen, die nicht
im XWorkplace-Benutzerhandbuch enthalten sind. Lesen Sie bitte
all dies vollständig durch, bevor Sie mit der Installation
beginnen.
Nach der Installation finden Sie dieses LIESMICH.NLS im Haupt-
Installationsverzeichnis.
Wenn Ihnen dieses Produkt zusagt, ziehen Sie bitte in Betracht,
die Weiterentwicklung zu unterstützen. Weitere Informationen
erhalten Sie im Abschnitt "9. Unterstützung und Spenden".
Hinweis: Die deutsche Sprachunterstützung für XWorkplace ist
absichtlich nach den Regeln der alten Rechtschreibung
verfaßt worden, um ein konsistentes Erscheinungsbild
zusammen mit den übrigen OS/2-Teilen zu gewährleisten.
2. ERFORDERNISSE
================
Dieses Sprachpaket erfordert ein installiertes XWorkplace 1.0.9.
D.h. das XWorkplace-Basispaket muß entweder bereits installiert
sein oder mit diesem Paket installiert werden.
3. INSTALLATION
===============
Das Sprachpaket muß mit WarpIN installiert werden. Nachdem alle
Dateien kopiert wurden, wird WarpIN die Workplace Shell neu
starten, damit die Änderungen aktiv werden können. Ein Neustart
des Systems sollte nicht notwendig sein.
Wenn Sie sich derzeit noch nicht sicher sind, ob Sie XWorkplace
benutzen sollten, können Sie nur das Paket "Dokumentation"
auswählen. Auf diese Weise können Sie zuerst die Dokumentation
von XWorkplace durchlesen und dann entscheiden, ob Sie es
wirklich vollständig installieren wollen. Um es zu einem
späteren Zeitpunkt zu installieren, doppelklicken Sie einfach
nochmals auf das WarpIN-Paket für XWorkplace.
Auf der letzten Seite "System Configuration" kann festgelegt werden,
ob WarpIN auch die WPS-Objekte, die XWorkplace angelegt
hat, auf die deutsche Sprachversion umstellen soll. Aktivieren Sie
dazu die Option "Create WPS objects". Beachten Sie dazu Punkt 1
unter "Bekannte Probleme". Sie können dies auch später nachholen,
indem Sie das REXX-Skript "instl049.cmd" im Unterverzeichnis
"install" des XWorkplace-Installationsverzeichnisses ausführen.
Bei der Installation wird das deutsche Sprachpaket automatisch
aktiviert und steht nach einem Neustart der WPS zur Verfügung.
4. BEKANNTE PROBLEME UND EINSCHRÄNKUNGEN
========================================
1. Aus Konsistenzgründen wurde die Kennung des deutschen Sprachpakets
geändert. Dies führt dazu, daß Einträge für ältere Versionen nach
der Installation in der WarpIN-Datenbank verbleiben. Diese können
aus der WarpIN-Datenbank entfernt werden.
2. Bei der Umstellung des Konfigurationsordners auf die
deutschen Objekttitel gehen bestehende persönliche
Einstellungen wie zusätzliche Menüeinträge i.a. verloren.
3. Wird die Sprachversion über das Objekt "XWorkplace-Konfiguration"
geändert, so kann es vorkommen, daß das XCenter dies nicht
wahrnimmt und infolgedessen Einträge in der vorher eingestellten
Sprache zurückbleiben. Dies läßt sich durch Schließen und
erneutes Starten des XCenters beheben.
4. Beim Treiberkonfigurationsdialog für JFS, der auf der Seite
"Treiber" des Objekts "OS/2-Kernel" aufgerufen werden kann,
sind die Texte derzeit noch fest in der Datei d_cdfs.dll
verdrahtet. Nach der Installation dieses Paketes kann die
englische Version nur durch Ersetzen der Datei durch die
ursprüngliche Version wiederhergestellt werden.

Welkom bij XWorkplace V1.0.16
XWorkplace is een complexe geheel van vervangings classes
voor de Workplace Shell van OS/2 om het gedrag van de WPS
in veel opzichten uit te breiden.
Dit LEESMIJ bestand bevat veel extra informatie die niet is te
vinden in de XWorkplace Gebruikers handleiding.
Lees dit LEESMIJ bestand a.u.b. voor installatie door.
Na de installatie vindt u dit LEESMIJ bestand in de hoofd
installatie directory van XWorkplace.
Over deze vrijgave
------------------
Dit is de eerste vrijgave vanuit de 1.1 boom met daarin de
bugfixes die verzameld zijn sinds de laatste 1.0 vrijgaves.
Voor details, kijk in de "Version Notices" in de
"XWorkplace Gebruikers handleiding".
Om alleen de documentatie te installeren, zie "3. INSTALLATIE" hieronder.
2. BENODIGHEDEN
===============
XWorkplace is ontwikkeld en getest onder eComStation.
Opm.: In tegenstelling tot de eerdere vrijgaves zullen
XWorkplace 1.0.0 en hoger NIET LANGER werken op OS/2 Warp 3.
DUS PROBEER HET NIET TE INSTALLEREN OP WARP 3.
Er zijn ook meldingen van XWorkplace problemen met Warp 4 als
de laatste fixpacks niet zijn geïnstalleerd, maar dat is nog
niet het test team bevestigd.
De volgende OS/2 versies zijn veilig, omdat zij zijn gebaseerd
op ruwweg dezelfde IBM code:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer voor e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation 1.x / 2.x
XWorkplace 1.0.4 en hoger leveren toegang tot extra informatie
over stuurprogramma's. De volgende benodigdheden zijn van toepassing:
-- Het CFGDAT.INF bestand uit het ConfigTool freeware pakket moet
aanwezig zijn in een directory van een pad dat is opgegeven in
de BOOKSHELF omgevingsvariabele in de CONFIG.SYS.
-- De uigebreide help weergever NewView moet geïnstalleerd zijn of
als een complete vervanging van VIEW.EXE of als een alleenstaand
programma met het uitvoerbare bestand in een PATH en de DLL
aanwezig in het LIBPATH statements.
3. INSTALLATIE
==============
XWorkplace moet m.b.v. WarpIN worden geïnstalleerd. Nadat alle bestanden
zijn gekopieerd, zal Warpin de Workplace Shell opnieuw starten om er
zeker van te zijn dat alle wijzigingen actief worden. Herstarten zal niet
nodig zijn.
Als u op dit moment nog niet weet of u XWorkplace wilt gebruiken, kunt ook
alleen het "Documetation" package selecteren uit het archief. Op deze wijze
kan eerst de documentatie van XWorkplace gelezen worden en kan besloten worden
om alsnog alles te installeren. Om het later te installeren, klik dan simpel
weg opnieuw op de .WPI van het XWorplace archief.
Enige WAARSCHUWINGEN:
-- MAAK, voor de installie, in ieder geval EEN BACKUP VAN DE WPS.
-- Er is gemeld dat de Workplace Shell zichzelf 'ophangt' na het
herstarten als u de "Automatisch vergrendelen bij opstarten" instellingen
heeft ingeschakeld. In dat geval, schakel deze instelling uit voor dat
WarpIN de WPS mag herstarten.
Installeren op eComStation
--------------------------
Als u xWP installeert op eComStation, weet dan dat eCS
een speciale versie van XWorkplace bevat die conflicteert
met de 'losse' versie. Doe een van de volgende dingen:
* Installeer deze vrijgave van XWorkplace over de versie
die zit in eCS heen -- d.w.z., als WarpIN u vraagt naar de
doel directory geef dan op:
?:\ecs\system\ewps (? uw opstart station).
Merkop dat dit de versie die in eCS zit, zal overschrijven
en dat dat niet eenvoudig kan worden hersteld.
* Als alternatief, verlaat nu deze XWorkplace installatie en
de-installeer eerst de eCS versie door het uitvoeren van
?:\ecs\system\ewps\install\deinst.cmd
Herstart uw werkplek (of herstart de PC), en installeer dan
XWorkplace in een willkeurige directory.
4. BIJWERKEN
============
Bijwerken vanuit XWorkplace
---------------------------
BELANRIJK: Als u installeert terwijl de WPS draait (wat het meest
waarschijnlijke is), zal WarpIN u bevestigingsdialogen laten zien
over de bestanden die momenteel in gebruik zijn, als meest belangrijke,
XFLDR031.DLL. Dat is normaal omdat die modules worden geladen als de
WPS (en dus XWorkplace) draait.
In deze dialogen, MOET u "Unlock (DosReplaceModule)" selecteren,
anders wordt uw installatie niet volledig bijgewerkt.
Als u dit bericht krijgt voor een help bestand (.HLP uitbreiding),
wordt het help bestand van XWorkplace open gehouden door de WPS.
Helaas is het met OS/2 niet mogelijk om gegevens bestanden automatisch
te ontkoppelen (unlock). Om het helpbestand te ontkoppelen, terwijl de
'gekoppeld' dialoog wordt getoond, open een standaard WPS help
venster (bijv. door op een lege plek op de werkplek te klikken en F1 in
te drukken), dit zal het XWorkplace help bestand ontkoppelen.
Daarnaast krijgt u waarschijnlijk een informatie bericht dat de
XWPDAEM.EXE draait en dat die gesloten moeten worden. Laat WarpIN dat
programma sluiten (dat is de XWorkplace Daemon).
Dit is het ongelukkige neven effect dat al uw 'XWorkplace Opstart' mappen,
starten als u accepteert wat WarpIN aanbiedt het starten van de werkplek
aan het einde van de installatie, zelfs als zij zijn ingsteld om alleen te
starten bij het herstarten.
Als dit een probleem is, moet u het aanbod om de Werkplek opnieuw te starten
weigeren, en u moet handmatig herstarten nadat de installatie gereed is.
Als het bijwerken niet werkt, laat dan WarpIN de geïnstalleerde XWorkplace
versie eerst verwijderen, herstart de WPS en installeer dan de nieuwe versie.
Bijwerken vanuit XFolder
------------------------
XWorkplace is de opvolger van XFolder V0.85.
XWorkplace en XFolder kunnen niet samenwerken, omdat XWorkplace
alle mogelijkheden bevat van XFolder 0.85 plus veel bugfixes
en zelfs meer mogelijkheden.
Met als resultaat, als XFolder is geïnstalleerd, XWorkplace uw XFolder
installatie zal uitschakelen.
Toch moet u XWorkplace in een ANDERE directory installeren dan de bestaande
XFolder directory om er zeker van te zijn dat geen bestandsconflicten ontstaan.
Verscheidene mensen hebben laten weten dat het installeren in dezelfde directory
de WPS kan laten hangen
XWorkplace kan uw bestaande XFolder 0.85 instellingen, indien aanwezig overnemen.
U zal daar tijdens de eerste WPS herstart na de installatie
om worden gevraagd. Echter er zijn veel nieuwe instellingen bijgekomen, dus
veel zal worden uitgeschakeld.
Als u prefereert om later terug te gaan naar uw bestaande XFolder installatie
(uiteindelijk, is dit een ontwikkelaars vrijgave), laat WarpIN dan XWorkplace
de-installeren en installeer XFolder weer door het gebruik van het INSTALL.CMD
in uw XFolder directory. Uw oude XFolder instellingen worden door XWorkplace
niet beïnvloed
5. TAAL ONDERSTEUNING
=====================
Dit archief bevat alleen de taal ondersteuning voor Nederlands,
een paar uitzonderingen daar gelaten die nog niet vertaald zijn.

6. BEGINNEN
===========
Open in ieder geval, na installatie, eerst het nieuwe "XWorkplace Instellingen"
object en ga naar de "Kenmerken" pagina. Dit is de meest centrale
plaats om de mogelijkheden van XWorkplace in te schakelen. Klik op de "Help"
toets voor meer informatie.

Installazione
=============
Questo pacchetto contiene il supporto in lingua italiana (NLS) per la
versione 1.0.16 di XWorkplace.
Ultimo aggiornamento: 9 giugno 2008
Alla pagina "System Configuration", lasciando selezionata l'impostazione
"Create WPS objects" WarpIN provvederà a tradurre automaticamente in
italiano i nomi degli oggetti WPS di XWorkplace. Leggete in proposito
il punto 2 in "Problemi noti e limitazioni". Si può ottenere in un secondo
tempo lo stesso effetto dell'opzione "Create WPS objects" lanciando lo
script REXX "instl039.cmd", nella sottocartella "install" del percorso di
installazione di XWorkplace.
All'inizio dell'installazione potrebbe presentarsi una finestra di errore dal
titolo "File locked": selezionate "Unlock" per procedere.
Al termine dell'installazione il supporto per la lingua italiana viene attivato
automaticamente ed entra in uso al primo riavvio della WPS.
Problemi noti e limitazioni
===========================
1. Per motivi di consistenza, la stringa identificativa del pacchetto per
la lingua italiana è cambiata. Nel caso si fosse già installata una
precedente versione di questo pacchetto, la voce relativa nel database
di WarpIN non verrà sovrascritta dalla presente versione e, se lo si
desidera, andrà rimossa manualmente.
2. Nella conversione in italiano dei nomi degli oggetti WPS relativi ad
XWorkplace andranno perdute tutte le personalizzazioni, ad es. le voci
di menu addizionali o i cambiamenti apportati alle stringhe di testo
visualizzate nelle barre di stato (oggetto "Workplace Shell", pagina
"Barre di stato - 2").
3. Se si sceglie una lingua differente dall'oggetto "Impostazioni
XWorkplace", è possibile che l'XCenter resti impostato sulla lingua
precedente. Per risolvere il problema è sufficiente chiudere e
riaprire l'XCenter.
4. Nell'oggetto "Kernel OS/2", la schermata di configurazione delle
impostazioni per il file system JFS è in inglese
(http://xtracker.netlabs.org/index.php?bug=690).
5. Il file .INF ("Guida ad XWorkplace") è, a differenza dell'aiuto in
linea, scarsamente aggiornato. Può capitare di trovare riferimenti
a tab, pagine impostazioni ed oggetti che non esistono più. In questi
casi fate riferimento all'aiuto in linea, molto più esteso e sempre
aggiornato. Restano valide ed utilissime tutte le pagine della Guida
in cui si spiegano i meccanismi interni di XWorkplace e della WPS.

INTRODUCTION
このフャイルは XWorkplace の日本語の国籍言語のサポートを
含んでいます。

The original Japanese XWorkplace translation was done by Jun Mikami and
can still be found at <http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley/1300/>.
It does not appear to have been updated since version 1.0.1, however.
Using these sources, I have updated it for XWorkplace 1.0.9. This mostly
involved reorganizing the file contents slightly, but it did require the
addition of a handful of new strings. (My Japanese is limited, so they
may be slightly strange, but I tried to do my best.)
KNOWN PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS
At present, only the language DLL, the message file, and object creation
are available in Japanese. The following are all still in English:
* The help file and documentation (although I did update a couple of
the more language-critical screenshots)
* The WarpIN installer text.
* The text used in the XFix utility.
* The driver descriptions used in the Kernel object.
* The WPS class descriptions used in the Class List object.
* The README and README.NLS files.
There is some slight text clipping visible in the WPS class list.
As well, the vertical spacing in various dialogs will tend to be rather
crowded if you have the desktop's default dialog font set to a smallish
value like 9.WarpSans or 8.Helv.
When the XPager is first enabled (or immediately following a reinstall),
the desktop IME controls may not become "sticky" until you reboot.
XWorkplace automatically sets the font on most of its dialogs to
9.WarpSans, instead of using the desktop's default dialog font. This
means that DBCS glyphs will be displayed using Presentation Manager's
automatic glyph substitution, instead of the "Combined" font glyphs.
I have not observed any problems with this, but it is possible that it
could affect the display quality of glyphs under some situations.
You may see some garbled text in the Trash Can folder immediately after
it is first created. As far as I can tell, this should go away once
you reboot.
REQUIREMENTS
You should use this NLS package under the Japanese DBCS version of
OS/2, with codepage 932 as the default.
It will install and run under SBCS versions (like US English), but none
of the Japanese text will be readable (unless you take some special and
rather unorthodox steps which are really not recommended).

1. INTRODUCTION
===============
Welcome to XWorkplace V1.0.16.
XWorkplace is a complex set of replacement classes for the
OS/2 Workplace Shell to enhance the WPS's behavior in many
ways.
XWorkplace comes in two flavors: the classic XWP Full version
with all features and endless configuration options, or the
newer Lite version that's preconfigured with the best of XWP.
Most ArcaOS and eComStation installations include customized
versions of XWP Lite, known as "ArcaDesktop" and "eWorkplace".
Contact the respective vendor for updates to those versions.
This README has additional information which is not included
in the XWorkplace User Guide. Please read through all of this
before installing.
After installation, you can find this README in the main
install directory.
About this release
------------------
This release from the SVN 1.0 branch includes all enhancements
and bugfixes currently available.
For details, refer to the "Version Notices" in the
"XWorkplace User Guide". To extract the documentation
only, see "3. INSTALLATION" below.
2. REQUIREMENTS
===============
XWorkplace is currently developed and tested under ArcaOS
but should work with any of these versions of OS/2:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer for e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation v1.x / v2.x
-- ArcaOS v5.x
Features that rely on ACPI (e.g. power-off or CPU temperature)
require the system to use a compatible version of 'ACPI.PSD'.
3. INSTALLATION
===============
XWorkplace must be installed using WarpIN. After all files
have been copied, WarpIN will restart your Workplace Shell
to make sure the changes become active. A reboot should not
be necessary.
The .WPI archive is structured as 3 packages: the "XWP kernel",
language-support files, and documentation. While you would
normally install all 3, you can choose just documentation or
only language-support if desired.
Some WARNINGS:
-- In any case, before installing, MAKE A WPS BACKUP.
-- It was reported that the Workplace Shell hangs after
a restart if you have "Automatic lockup on startup"
enabled. If so, disable that setting before allowing
WarpIN to restart the WPS.
4. UPGRADING
============
An upgrade requires the WarpIN installer to replace files that
are currently in use. When it asks about locked files, be sure
to select "Unlock (DosReplaceModule)". If it reports that
'xwpdaemn.exe' is running and must be killed, allow it to do so.
Should you get prompted that a .HLP file is locked, opening and
closing WPS help will unlock it: click on the Desktop then press F1.
Warning: killing 'xwpdaemn.exe' has the unfortunate side-effect
of making all your XWorkplace Startup Folders start if you accept
WarpIN's offer to restart the desktop at the end of installation,
even if they are set to start on reboots only. If this is a problem,
decline the offer to restart the Desktop, and reboot manually after
installation has completed.
If upgrading doesn't work, have WarpIN remove the installed
XWorkplace version first, restart the WPS, and then install
the new version.
Upgrading ArcaDesktop and eWorkplace
------------------------------------
You may want to contact your vendor for their customized upgrade
before installing a generic version of XWorkplace. If you choose
to proceed, you can install either XWP Lite to get a comparable set
of features or XWP Full for all features. Be aware that the icons
and titles of some XWP objects may change.
5. NATIONAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT
============================
Xworkplace (Full and Lite) is currently distributed in seven NLS
versions: German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian,
and English.
To change your installation's language, reinstall using the
desired NLS version but only select the language-support package.
If you've installed XWP Full, you can use its "XWorkplace Setup"
object to select any of the installed languages.
Note: additional NLS versions containing only language-support
files may be available from 3rd-parties.
6. GETTING STARTED
==================
XWorkplace Full users should open the "XWorkplace Setup" object
first. Go to the "Features" page to explore and enable XWorkplace.
XWorkplace Lite comes preconfigured with most features enabled.
For both versions, most settings are integrated into WPS objects

Dieses Archiv enthält die deutsche Sprachunterstützung (NLS) für
XWorkplace 1.0.16.
Dieses LIESMICH.NLS umfaßt zusätzliche Informationen, die nicht
im XWorkplace-Benutzerhandbuch enthalten sind. Lesen Sie bitte
all dies vollständig durch, bevor Sie mit der Installation
beginnen.
Nach der Installation finden Sie dieses LIESMICH.NLS im Haupt-
Installationsverzeichnis.
Wenn Ihnen dieses Produkt zusagt, ziehen Sie bitte in Betracht,
die Weiterentwicklung zu unterstützen. Weitere Informationen
erhalten Sie im Abschnitt "9. Unterstützung und Spenden".
Hinweis: Die deutsche Sprachunterstützung für XWorkplace ist
absichtlich nach den Regeln der alten Rechtschreibung
verfaßt worden, um ein konsistentes Erscheinungsbild
zusammen mit den übrigen OS/2-Teilen zu gewährleisten.
2. ERFORDERNISSE
================
Dieses Sprachpaket erfordert ein installiertes XWorkplace 1.0.9.
D.h. das XWorkplace-Basispaket muß entweder bereits installiert
sein oder mit diesem Paket installiert werden.
3. INSTALLATION
===============
Das Sprachpaket muß mit WarpIN installiert werden. Nachdem alle
Dateien kopiert wurden, wird WarpIN die Workplace Shell neu
starten, damit die Änderungen aktiv werden können. Ein Neustart
des Systems sollte nicht notwendig sein.
Wenn Sie sich derzeit noch nicht sicher sind, ob Sie XWorkplace
benutzen sollten, können Sie nur das Paket "Dokumentation"
auswählen. Auf diese Weise können Sie zuerst die Dokumentation
von XWorkplace durchlesen und dann entscheiden, ob Sie es
wirklich vollständig installieren wollen. Um es zu einem
späteren Zeitpunkt zu installieren, doppelklicken Sie einfach
nochmals auf das WarpIN-Paket für XWorkplace.
Auf der letzten Seite "System Configuration" kann festgelegt werden,
ob WarpIN auch die WPS-Objekte, die XWorkplace angelegt
hat, auf die deutsche Sprachversion umstellen soll. Aktivieren Sie
dazu die Option "Create WPS objects". Beachten Sie dazu Punkt 1
unter "Bekannte Probleme". Sie können dies auch später nachholen,
indem Sie das REXX-Skript "instl049.cmd" im Unterverzeichnis
"install" des XWorkplace-Installationsverzeichnisses ausführen.
Bei der Installation wird das deutsche Sprachpaket automatisch
aktiviert und steht nach einem Neustart der WPS zur Verfügung.
4. BEKANNTE PROBLEME UND EINSCHRÄNKUNGEN
========================================
1. Aus Konsistenzgründen wurde die Kennung des deutschen Sprachpakets
geändert. Dies führt dazu, daß Einträge für ältere Versionen nach
der Installation in der WarpIN-Datenbank verbleiben. Diese können
aus der WarpIN-Datenbank entfernt werden.
2. Bei der Umstellung des Konfigurationsordners auf die
deutschen Objekttitel gehen bestehende persönliche
Einstellungen wie zusätzliche Menüeinträge i.a. verloren.
3. Wird die Sprachversion über das Objekt "XWorkplace-Konfiguration"
geändert, so kann es vorkommen, daß das XCenter dies nicht
wahrnimmt und infolgedessen Einträge in der vorher eingestellten
Sprache zurückbleiben. Dies läßt sich durch Schließen und
erneutes Starten des XCenters beheben.
4. Beim Treiberkonfigurationsdialog für JFS, der auf der Seite
"Treiber" des Objekts "OS/2-Kernel" aufgerufen werden kann,
sind die Texte derzeit noch fest in der Datei d_cdfs.dll
verdrahtet. Nach der Installation dieses Paketes kann die
englische Version nur durch Ersetzen der Datei durch die
ursprüngliche Version wiederhergestellt werden.

Welcome to XWorkplace V1.0.15.
XWorkplace is a complex set of replacement classes for the
OS/2 Workplace Shell to enhance the WPS's behavior in many
ways.
XWorkplace comes in two flavors: the classic XWP Full version
with all features and endless configuration options, or the
newer Lite version that's preconfigured with the best of XWP.
Most ArcaOS and eComStation installations include customized
versions of XWP Lite, known as "ArcaDesktop" and "eWorkplace".
Contact the respective vendor for updates to those versions.
This README has additional information which is not included
in the XWorkplace User Guide. Please read through all of this
before installing.
After installation, you can find this README in the main
install directory.

This release from the SVN 1.0 branch includes all enhancements
and bugfixes currently available.
For details, refer to the "Version Notices" in the
"XWorkplace User Guide". To extract the documentation
only, see "3. INSTALLATION" below.
2. REQUIREMENTS
===============
XWorkplace is currently developed and tested under ArcaOS
but should work with any of these versions of OS/2:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer for e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation v1.x / v2.x
-- ArcaOS v5.x
Features that rely on ACPI (e.g. power-off or CPU temperature)
require the system to use a compatible version of 'ACPI.PSD'.
3. INSTALLATION
===============
XWorkplace must be installed using WarpIN. After all files
have been copied, WarpIN will restart your Workplace Shell
to make sure the changes become active. A reboot should not
be necessary.
The .WPI archive is structured as 3 packages: the "XWP kernel",
language-support files, and documentation. While you would
normally install all 3, you can choose just documentation or
only language-support if desired.
Some WARNINGS:
-- In any case, before installing, MAKE A WPS BACKUP.
-- It was reported that the Workplace Shell hangs after
a restart if you have "Automatic lockup on startup"
enabled. If so, disable that setting before allowing
WarpIN to restart the WPS.
4. UPGRADING
============
An upgrade requires the WarpIN installer to replace files that
are currently in use. When it asks about locked files, be sure
to select "Unlock (DosReplaceModule)". If it reports that
'xwpdaemn.exe' is running and must be killed, allow it to do so.
Should you get prompted that a .HLP file is locked, opening and
closing WPS help will unlock it: click on the Desktop then press F1.
Warning: killing 'xwpdaemn.exe' has the unfortunate side-effect
of making all your XWorkplace Startup Folders start if you accept
WarpIN's offer to restart the desktop at the end of installation,
even if they are set to start on reboots only. If this is a problem,
decline the offer to restart the Desktop, and reboot manually after
installation has completed.
If upgrading doesn't work, have WarpIN remove the installed
XWorkplace version first, restart the WPS, and then install
the new version.
Upgrading ArcaDesktop and eWorkplace
------------------------------------
You may want to contact your vendor for their customized upgrade
before installing a generic version of XWorkplace. If you choose
to proceed, you can install either XWP Lite to get a comparable set
of features or XWP Full for all features. Be aware that the icons
and titles of some XWP objects may change.
5. NATIONAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT
============================
Xworkplace (Full and Lite) is currently distributed in seven NLS
versions: German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian,
and English.
To change your installation's language, reinstall using the
desired NLS version but only select the language-support package.
If you've installed XWP Full, you can use its "XWorkplace Setup"
object to select any of the installed languages.
Note: additional NLS versions containing only language-support
files may be available from 3rd-parties.
6. GETTING STARTED
==================
XWorkplace Full users should open the "XWorkplace Setup" object
first. Go to the "Features" page to explore and enable XWorkplace.
XWorkplace Lite comes preconfigured with most features enabled.

Welcome to XWorkplace V1.0.14.
XWorkplace is a complex set of replacement classes for the
OS/2 Workplace Shell to enhance the WPS's behavior in many
ways.
XWorkplace comes in two flavors: the classic XWP Full version
with all features and endless configuration options, or the
newer Lite version that's preconfigured with the best of XWP.
Most ArcaOS and eComStation installations include customized
versions of XWP Lite, known as "ArcaDesktop" and "eWorkplace".
Contact the respective vendor for updates to those versions.
This README has additional information which is not included
in the XWorkplace User Guide. Please read through all of this
before installing.
After installation, you can find this README in the main
install directory.

This release from the SVN 1.0 branch includes all enhancements
and bugfixes currently available.
For details, refer to the "Version Notices" in the
"XWorkplace User Guide". To extract the documentation
only, see "3. INSTALLATION" below.
2. REQUIREMENTS
===============
XWorkplace is currently developed and tested under ArcaOS
but should work with any of these versions of OS/2:
-- Warp 4 FP 15
-- WarpServer for e-Business
-- Merlin/Aurora Convenience Packages
-- eComStation v1.x / v2.x
-- ArcaOS v5.x
Features that rely on ACPI (e.g. power-off or CPU temperature)
require the system to use a compatible version of 'ACPI.PSD'.
3. INSTALLATION
===============
XWorkplace must be installed using WarpIN. After all files
have been copied, WarpIN will restart your Workplace Shell
to make sure the changes become active. A reboot should not
be necessary.
The .WPI archive is structured as 3 packages: the "XWP kernel",
language-support files, and documentation. While you would
normally install all 3, you can choose just documentation or
only language-support if desired.
Some WARNINGS:
-- In any case, before installing, MAKE A WPS BACKUP.
-- It was reported that the Workplace Shell hangs after
a restart if you have "Automatic lockup on startup"
enabled. If so, disable that setting before allowing
WarpIN to restart the WPS.
4. UPGRADING
============
An upgrade requires the WarpIN installer to replace files that
are currently in use. When it asks about locked files, be sure
to select "Unlock (DosReplaceModule)". If it reports that
'xwpdaemn.exe' is running and must be killed, allow it to do so.
Should you get prompted that a .HLP file is locked, opening and
closing WPS help will unlock it: click on the Desktop then press F1.
Warning: killing 'xwpdaemn.exe' has the unfortunate side-effect
of making all your XWorkplace Startup Folders start if you accept
WarpIN's offer to restart the desktop at the end of installation,
even if they are set to start on reboots only. If this is a problem,
decline the offer to restart the Desktop, and reboot manually after
installation has completed.
If upgrading doesn't work, have WarpIN remove the installed
XWorkplace version first, restart the WPS, and then install
the new version.
Upgrading ArcaDesktop and eWorkplace
------------------------------------
You may want to contact your vendor for their customized upgrade
before installing a generic version of XWorkplace. If you choose
to proceed, you can install either XWP Lite to get a comparable set
of features or XWP Full for all features. Be aware that the icons
and titles of some XWP objects may change.
5. NATIONAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT
============================
Xworkplace (Full and Lite) is currently distributed in six NLS
versions: German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and English.
To change your installation's language, reinstall using the
desired NLS version but only select the language-support package.
If you've installed XWP Full, you can use its "XWorkplace Setup"
object to select any of the installed languages.
Note: additional NLS versions containing only language-support
files may be available from 3rd-parties.
6. GETTING STARTED
==================
XWorkplace Full users should open the "XWorkplace Setup" object
first. Go to the "Features" page to explore and enable XWorkplace.
XWorkplace Lite comes preconfigured with most features enabled.
For both versions, most settings are integrated into WPS objects
in the System Setup folder; additional options can also be found
in the pages of the Desktop's Properties notebook.
