Weather-Tools for OS/2 Workplace Shell.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory and unpack to destination folder. See below for download link(s).

You can install the prerequisites with rpm running the following string in a command line:

yum install curl libcurl

Frank is free to use my work as its own work (having provided this res and exe code as suggestion) Weather.exe widget style Weather_PW.exe widget with PM title bar New : To allow following options, the corresponding ini parm must be set else, change is disabled Using Weather_PW.exe, moving its position is saved into the ini file as well, a drop of a new font onto right bottom wind text field will be saved a backup ini file is created and the original one updated with the news settings Of course, Weather.exe will use these parameters to position it correctly as well use the setted font It has a lot of enhancements! WPWeather - OS/2 Desktop Weather Fetcher WPWeather is a native Classic REXX script for OS/2, ArcaOS, and eComStation. It fetches weather data via the free Bright Sky API and automatically creates or updates WPS (WorkPlace Shell) program objects on your desktop with the current 3-day forecast. Requirements OS/2, ArcaOS, or eComStation with a REXX interpreter. cURL must be installed and available in the system path. Installation Extract all files (the .cmd script, WEATHER.INI, and the ICONS folder) into a directory on your hard drive. Configuration (WEATHER.INI) Adjust the WEATHER.INI file using a text editor: Enter the coordinates of the location you want to receive weather data for. The script defaults to the coordinates for Berlin. (Tip: You can easily find the coordinates for your location using Google Maps or OpenStreetMap). Change the language to German (DE) or English (EN). Enable (1) or disable (0) log files. Set the iconset you want to use. iconset=1 (legacy icons. Note this misses hail and iconset=2 (heaven-blue buttons) iconset=3 (dark blue buttons, default) iconset=4 (BeOS style buttons) You may find the icons in correspondung subdirecties \icons1 to \icons4 You might edit the icons or create your own. Usage Execute the WPWEATHER.CMD file (e.g., by double-clicking it or running it from the command line). The script: Downloads the weather data via cURL. Analyzes the data for "Today", "Tomorrow", and "Day after tomorrow". Generates or updates three WPS objects (<WP_WEATHER1> to <WP_WEATHER3>) directly on your OS/2 desktop, including appropriate weather icons and formatted temperature/rain/wind data. Automation For regular updates, simply create a shadow (reference object) of WPWEATHER.CMD in your Startup folder or set up a cron job. Nutzung Führe die Datei WPWEATHER.CMD aus (z.B. per Doppelklick oder aus der Kommandozeile). Das Skript: Lädt die Wetterdaten via cURL herunter. Analysiert die Daten für "Heute", "Morgen" und "Übermorgen". Generiert oder aktualisiert drei WPS-Objekte (<WP_WEATHER1> bis <WP_WEATHER3>) direkt auf deinem OS/2-Desktop, inklusive passender Wetter-Icons und formatierter Temperatur-/Regen-/Wind-Daten.
