The EDITINI program is a simple editor which can be used to view and change text entries in the OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI keyed files. The OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI files provide a convenient place for programs to store profile information. However, these files are stored in binary form and therefore cannot be readily viewed without a special program. That's why EDITINI was created.
EDITINI can be used to view text entries in the OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI profiles, and it also provides the ability to change or delete entries if desired. (EDITINI does not provide binary data editing capability).
To view profile entries, select OS2.INI or OS2SYS.INI from the choices EDITINI provides in the "Profile" group box. EDITINI will automatically look for all Application names and Keynames for the first Application name it finds when you select either "OS2.INI" or "OS2SYS.INI".
Type in "Application name" and "Key name" (or select from available choices) to see the data for an application/key name pair. The "Text" field will show data for your selections whenever it can be found.
To add a new profile entry, select the "Application name" or type in a new name. Select a "Key name" or type in a new name. Then type in "Text" data for this application/key pair, and press "Add/Change" to add the new entry.
To change the currently displayed entry, type over the "Text" data for the entry and press "Add/Change".
To delete the currently displayed entry, press "Delete".
WARNING: Only change or delete entries if you are sure you understand the consequences. User program and system data in OS/2 keyed profiles may be damaged if you accidentally corrupt this data. (Corrupting OS/2 data could damage your Workplace Shell customization, for example).
