eComStation kLIBC Pathrewriter (8/8/2024, Lars Erdmann) Readme/What's new
UNIX path rewriting supports apps ported from UNIX to rewrite UNIX style paths to something that OS/2 can understand. Requires libc to be installed. Replaces the original klibccfg package. ------------------------------ This will install the Path Rewriter configuration object (optional) and the Path Rewriter HOOK DLL (mandatory). The Path Rewriter HOOK DLL (and its accompanying configuration object) provide support for applications ported from UNIX to have their UNIX type path naming changed to something that OS/2 understands. That will allow these UNIX ports to successfully open and access files. The hook DLL will properly support forked processes (search for UNIX "fork()" in the internet), fixing a long standing bug in the original implementation of the klibccfg hook support. Note: if you are using ArcaOS, you do not need to install this package as ArcaOS already contains the same functionality. This package also contains the sources for the hook DLL in case you want to rebuild or modify. Please note that it is essential that you build the hook DLL with gcc only (other compilers will not work).
