WarpMedia Technology Preview README
1. Introduction
While not a completed product, this preview demonstrates a number of
the exciting technologies SDG has been working on:
- MPEG-1 video/audio playback.
- DivX video/audio playback.
- Fullscreen video and TV output with SciTech Display Doctor.
- DIVE video output.
- Customizable user interface, including the ability to use Winamp
skins directly.
2. Installation notes
1) Unzip the zip file to a directory of your choice.
2) That's it! Run WarpMedia from that directory!
Note #1: DivX playback requires divxc32.dll from the Windows DivX codec
package. For legal reasons, SDG cannot distribute it together
with WarpMedia.
You can download the DivX codec at:
http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/video/video_tools/divx_311alpha.zip
Extract the divxc32.dll file and put it in the WarpMedia
directory.
Note #2: In order to get the best possible DIVE performance you can either
install SciTech Display Doctor's GRADD driver, or make sure you
have write-combining to the VRAM enabled. A utility to enable
write-combining can be found at
"http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=p6k7mtrr".
SDD can be found at "http://www.scitechsoft.com/".
3. Installation of the XCenter Widget plugin
Put WMXCW.DLL in your XWorkplace\plugins\xcenter directory and
restart XCenter. The widget requires WarpMedia.exe to be running for
it to actually do something useful.
For more information about XWorkplace and XCenter, go to
http://www.xworkplace.org/
4. Skins
WarpMedia skins are more advanced than Winamp skins. For example,
skins can be transparent or non-rectangular. However, WarpMedia is
also capable of using Winamp skins.
To see some examples on how to create skins for WarpMedia, get this:
ftp://ftp.sdg.os2.nu/pub/warpmedia/wmsdk.zip
Skins can be found at:
ftp://ftp.sdg.os2.nu/pub/warpmedia/skins/
5. Keys
The following keys are valid in the video window and in fullscreen mode:
Alt+Home Switch between fullscreen and windowed mode
Enter Switch from fullscreen to windowed mode
Escape Switch from fullscreen to windowed mode
Ctrl+Up Increase volume
Ctrl+Down Decrease volume

press 'p' again to seek to the selected position.
v Volume control
. Stop playback
The following keys select the display adjustment mode:
g Gamma correction
b Brightness
c Contrast
C Colour saturation
R Red saturation
G Green saturation
B Blue saturation
s Smooth filter
m Motion blur filter
Up Next mode
Down Previous mode
After selecting an adjustment mode, use + or - to adjust the display.
6. The INI file.
The WarpMedia.ini file currently has one section, [MGL_Resolutions].
This section contains the resolutions that WarpMedia will display as
possible MGL fullscreen modes. If you want to use more or fewer
resolutions, then you can add/remove them in this section
(one resolution per line). Note that if you want to use a non-standard
mode, you may first have to add it with "gamode.exe" that is located in
your SDD directory.
7. Restrictions
- SDD beta 39 (a higher version might not work) for fullscreen/TV
output.
- The display adjustment controls do not work with DivX video.
8. Known bugs
Too many to list...

S u b t i t l e r
-----------------
Description:
This is an application that shows subtitles for AVI files (usually SUB files)
while they are being played with WarpMedia or WarpVision. It currently knows
three kind of subtitle files, if you are lucky, yours is also supported.:)
Usage:
SUBTITLER <SubFileName> [FramePerSec]
Parameter one has to be the name (and path) of the file containing the
subtitles. Parameter two is optional, it is 25 by default. If the subtitle
file contains Frame numbers instead of time information (numbers in curved
brackets), you have the use this to provide the FPS of the AVI file. It is
a real number, it's not a must to be an integer.
If your subtitle file contains national characters, make sure that you set
the codepage of the subtitle file in the translat.ini file (it's a plain
text file).
If you plan to use it with WarpMedia, you don't have to do anything else.
If you plan to use it with WarpVision, you will have to use another program
too, called PipeExec. It sends every output of WarpVision into a Pipe, making
it possible for Subtitler to track the position of the movie. You should
start WarpVision like this:
PipeExec WarpVision.EXE D:\Path\Movie.AVI
Sources/Compilation:
All the sources are included. To compile it, you will need the followings:
- IBM OS/2 DEVELOPER'S TOOLKIT (Included with eComStation)
- Virtual Pascal v2.1 (can be freely downloaded from www.vpascal.com)
To create an EXE, you will have to take care of the followings:
- Execute R.CMD, which will create the pascal-style resource file and
include file from the dialog.dlg and dialog.h files.
- Make sure that the INCLUDE environment variable contains the path to
the header files of the toolkit. (In my case, SET INCLUDE=F:\os2tk45\h)
They are needed to compile the resources.
- Start Virtual Pascal, change its directory to the directory of
Subtitler.pas/PipeExec.pas
(File->Change Dir...)
- Open the Subtitler.pas/PipeExec.pas file
- Build it! (Compile->Build)
Changing the sources:
You are allowed to do changes, and do everything you want with the program
and/or the sources.
To change the window of the program use the DLGEDIT.EXE from the toolkit to
edit the dialog.res file. It will also modify the dialog.dlg and dialog.h
files. Run R.CMD to reflect the changes to pascal.
Contact information:
I don't plan to do changes to this program, anyway, the sourcecode is open,
so anybody can change it. :) The purpose of the release is to help others
with creating OS/2 applications.
If you still want to contact me, send an e-mail to
