READ.ME for the latest DOSBOX and WINSOCK code:
Description:
------------
This package provides replacement files for VDOSTCP.VDD,
VDOSTCP.SYS, VDOSCTL.EXE, VDEBUG.EXE, and WINSOCK.DLL.
**********************************************************
* These files will bring both the DOSBOX and WINSOCK *
* components to the latest available service levels in *
* the following OS/2 systems: OS/2 V2.x, WARP CONNECT, *
* WARP SERVER , WARP SERVER SMP and WARP V4.0. *
* In other words, the files in this package can be *
* applied to all of the above releases of OS/2. *
**********************************************************
Installation instructions:
--------------------------
Prerequisites (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
OS/2 2.x - UN64092 (TCP/IP V2.0 CSD)
WARP CONNECT - WR08210 (MPTN CSD), UN00067 (TCP/IP V3.0 CSD) **
WARP SERVER - WR08210 (MPTN CSD), UN00959 (TCP/IP V3.1 CSD)
WARP SERVER SMP - WR08503 (MPTN CSD)
WARP V4.0 - None (TCP/IP V4.0 base)
** UN00067 is sufficient if already applied. If not yet applied
UN00959 should be applied to TCP/IP V3.0 instead of UN00067.
You should put the DOSBOX.EXE file in a temporary subdirectory
and enter:
DOSBOX .
Note that the '.' is important because it will unzip into the current path.
DOSBOX.EXE file contents:
--------------------------
FILE SIZE DATE TIME COPY TO
------------------------------------------------------------------------
READ.ME
VDOSTCP.VDD 51936 09-18-97 11:22P TCPIP\BIN
VDOSTCP.SYS 5111 07-02-97 2:10p TCPIP\BIN ***
VDEBUG.EXE 39269 09-19-97 2:45p TCPIP\BIN
VDOSCTL.EXE 35058 09-19-97 1:27p TCPIP\BIN ***
WINSOCK.DLL 83817 09-29-97 12:39p TCPIP\DOS\BIN
You should back up the current versions of these files on your
system. Then replace the files in the directory listed next to
each file in the table above.
*** Note that VDOSCTL.EXE and VDOSTCP.SYS will likely be locked or in use. To
copy the new file, follow these steps:
1) edit CONFIG.SYS
2) locate and REM the following lines
RUN=d:\tcpip\bin\VDOSCTL.EXE
DEVICE=c:\tcpip\bin\vdostcp.sys
3) shutdown and reboot
4) copy the new VDOSCTL.EXE and VDOSTCP.SYS into TCPIP\BIN
5) edit CONFIG.SYS and remove REMs added in step 2
6) shutdown and reboot
The above procedure can be avoided if you have a utility
(ie. REPMON) that is capable of replacing files that are
in use.
Listed below are the latest APARS that the associated files
were pulled from to create this LATEST DOSBOX/WINSOCK package.
Because this code is all common across the listed releases of
OS/2, the TBD listed for APAR numbers is purely administrative.
The code shipped will be EXACTLY the same. APAR numbers will
be assigned to each release for tracking purposes only.
