*nix SMPlayer port. SMPlayer is a GUI frontend for Mplayer developed using QT Toolkit.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory, unpack to destination folder and see the readme.os2 file included. Specify the correct PATH into the SMPlayer options panel.

  • To use the combination of SMPlayer and MPlayer to its full extent, at least is required. Earlier versions do not support scaling, i.e., you will always see a video in its original size, regardless of the zoom setting or fullscreen mode.
  • MPlayer is able to use Win32 codec DLLs for codecs it does not support natively.

You can install the prerequisites with rpm running the following string in a command line:

yum install libgcc4* libssp libstdc++ libstdc++6 libsupc++ libsupc++6 libqt4 libqt4-gui libqt4-webkit libqt4-designer libqt4-sql-mysql libqt4-sql-psql zlib
