Odin is the name of the project and software that allows users to run Win32 (Windows 95 and Windows NT) applications in OS/2 Warp operating system natively, almost as if they were intended to be OS/2 applications in the first place.

Basically, a collection of tools and DLL's that allow an end-user to convert a Win32 (i.e. Win95/WinNT) program into a native OS/2 program, and then run that program under OS/2 without needing Windows or Win-OS/2 support installed.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Available both as ZIP and WarpIN package:

  • download the ZIP package to temporary directory and unpack it to destination folder;
  • the WarpIN package is self-installing.

A file system supporting long filenames (e.g. HPFS/JFS) is required, Odin will not work on FAT16. Warp 3 is not officially supported, but is reported to work by using Warp 4 open32 dlls and patching them.

See below for download link(s). On http://www.os2warp.org/odin/ archives you can find all the old versions.

You can install the prerequisites with rpm running the following string in a command line:

yum install libc libgcc gcc-stack-protector gcc-stdc++-shared-library gcc-supc++-shared-library
