This program will allow you to shorten all the filenames in a directory to the pattern that your DOS programs will need in order to see them, the 8.3 notation. To use the program simply open an OS/2 window go to the directory containing 8DOT3.EXE and invoke it with the argument of the directory that contains the files whose names need shortening (e.g. "8dot3 c:\data\download").

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory and unpack to destination folder. See below for download link(s).
