This EXPART*.EXE driver package provides you with IBM's most current support for hard disk drive Extended (type 0x0F) and Fat (type 0x0E) partitions on the OS/2 Warp 4 and OS/2 Warp Server for e-business Operating Systems, Convenience Package edition (1 and 2). Those partitions are located beyond 7.8 GB limit. The packages include refreshed drivers, lvm and kernel (rev. 14.091_UNI) and (rev. 14.091_SMP).

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Those partitions are located beyond 7.8 GB limit. 1.1 The EXPARTCP.EXE file that you received contains the following 21 Extended Partition Support files in a self-extracting compressed format. - EXPARTCP.TXT This file that you are reading - CPINST.CMD - CPINST1.CMD - CPINST2.CMD - CPUNINST.CMD - ENGINE.DLL - LVM.DLL - OS2DASD.DMD - OS2LVM.DMD - IBM1S506.ADD - FORMAT.COM - LVM.EXE - LVM.MSG - LVMH.MSG - LVMGUI.CMD - LVMGUI.ZIP - OS2DUMP.UNI - OS2KRNL.UNI - OS2DUMP.SMP - OS2KRNL.SMP - VCU.EXE - ISSMP.EXE 2.0 Extended Partition Support _______________________________ 2.1 Extract Extended Partition Support files ============================================= To use these driver files, you must expand the EXPARTCP.EXE file into its 17 component files by (a.) opening an OS/2 window and (b.) changing to the temporary directory where EXPARTCP.EXE is stored and (c.) typing EXPARTCP at the OS/2 command prompt. Once the EXPARTCP.EXE file is expanded, please continue with the Extended Partition Support Installation Instructions. 2.2 Extended Partition Support Installation Instructions ========================================================= 2.2.1 Extract files as is described in 2.1. 2.2.2 Please save following files: Drive:\os2\dll\ENGINE.DLL Drive:\os2\dll\LVM.DLL Drive:\os2\boot\OS2DASD.DMD Drive:\os2\boot\OS2LVM.DMD Drive:\os2\boot\IBM1S506.ADD Drive:\os2\FORMAT.COM Drive:\os2\LVM.EXE Drive:\os2\LVMGUI.CMD Drive:\os2\javaapps\LVMGUI.ZIP Drive:\OS2DUMP Drive:\OS2KRNL Where Drive is a system drive. Files OS2DUMP and OS2KRNL are hidden and system. 2.2.3 At the OS/2 command prompt, type CPINST Drive Where Drive is a boot drive where this support will be installed. 2.2.4 To use this support, you must replace boot manager and mbr to new ones (a.) changing to the temporary directory where EXPARTCP.EXE is stored and (b.) Run LVM (opening an OS/2 window and typing lvm at the OS/2 command prompt) and (c.) Remove BOOT MANAGER and (d.) Install BOOT MANAGER. (e.) Save the changes and exit 2.2.5 You must REBOOT the system. This completes the Extended Partition Support installation procedure. 2.3 Extended Partition Support Un-Install Instructions ======================================================= 2.3.1 Extract files as is described in 2.1. 2.3.2 At the OS/2 command prompt, type CPUNINST Drive Path Where Drive is a boot drive where this support will be installed. Where Path is a path of a directory where saved files are stored. 2.3.3 You must replace boot manager and mbr to old ones (a.) changing to the DRIVE:\OS2 and (b.) Type LVM and (c.) Remove BOOT MANAGER and (d.) Install BOOT MANAGER. (e.) Save the changes and exit 2.3.4 Safely shut down and then re-boot your system. 2.4 Adding the Extended Partition Support to the OS/2 Installation Diskettes ============================================================================ If there is not enough space on boot diskettes to contain the additional drivers, follow the instructions README.TXT in the root directory of your OS/2 system to make additional space. 2.4.1 Modifying Installation Diskette ------------------------------------- Copy OS2DUMP file to Diskette. Copy OS2KRNL file to Diskette: (a.) delete file OS2KRNLI from diskette (b.) copy OS2KRNL to diskette (c.) rename file OS2KRNL to OS2KRNLI 2.4.2 Modifying Diskette 1 -------------------------- Add the following sequence of statements to the CONFIG.SYS file on the Diskette: SET SAVECONNECT=1 SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1 Copy the following files to Diskette: IBM1S506.ADD OS2DASD.DMD OS2LVM.DMD 2.4.3 Modifying Diskette 2 -------------------------- Copy the following files to Diskette: VCU.EXE LVM.EXE LVM.DLL LVM.MSG LVMH.MSG 2.4.4 Creating additional diskette 3 ------------------------------------ Please prepare additional diskette: a) Erase all data on this diskette b) Copy folowing files to this diskette: IBM1S506.ADD OS2DASD.DMD OS2LVM.DMD OS2KRNL OS2DUMP CPINST1.CMD CPINST2.CMD c) Label this diskette as diskette 3 2.5 Updating not working system =============================== 2.5.1 Prepare the installation diskettes as described in 2.4. 2.5.2 Follow the instructions README.TXT in the root directory of your OS/2 installation CDROM to exit to command prompt during the installation process. 2.5.3 Type a:\LVM.EXE 2.5.4 You must replace boot manager and mbr to new ones (a.) Remove BOOT MANAGER and (b.) Install BOOT MANAGER. 2.5.5 Save the changes and exit. 2.5.6 Insert the diskette 3. At the OS/2 command prompt, type: A:\CPINST1.CMD Drive Where Drive is a boot drive where this support will be installed. 2.5.7 Reboot system. 2.5.8 After reboot please replace files: Drive:\os2\dll\ENGINE.DLL Drive:\os2\dll\LVM.DLL Drive:\os2\FORMAT.COM Drive:\os2\LVM.EXE Drive:\os2\LVMGUI.CMD Drive:\os2\javaapps\LVMGUI.ZIP to files from EXPARTCP.EXE or do steps 2.1 and 2.2.3. 2.5.9 This step completes the Extended Partition Support installation procedure. 2.6 Installing OS/2 from Updated Installation Diskettes ======================================================= Note: This support can not install OS/2 system on FAT partition of type 0x0E. 2.6.1 Prepare the installation diskettes as described in 2.4. 2.6.2 Follow the instructions README.TXT in the root directory of your OS/2 installation CDROM to exit to command prompt during the installation process. 2.6.3 Type a:\LVM.EXE /SI:FS/SIZE:120 (this parameter allows user to set installable) 2.6.4 Create partition and volume (if necessary) and set the volume installable. 2.6.5 You must replace boot manager and mbr to new ones (a.) Remove BOOT MANAGER and (b.) Install BOOT MANAGER. 2.6.6 Save the changes and exit. 2.6.7 Reboot system. 2.6.8 Start installation from the diskettes. 2.6.9 After installation please insert 3rd diskette and at the OS/2 command prompt type a:\CPINST2.CMD Drive Where Drive is a boot drive where this support was installed. 2.6.10 After reboot please replace files: Drive:\os2\dll\ENGINE.DLL Drive:\os2\dll\LVM.DLL Drive:\os2\FORMAT.COM Drive:\os2\LVM.EXE Drive:\os2\LVMGUI.CMD Drive:\os2\javaapps\LVMGUI.ZIP to files from EXPARTCP.EXE or do steps 2.1 and 2.2.3. 2.6.11 This step completes the Extended Partition Support installation procedure. 2.7 Requirements ================= 2.7.1 Hardware Hard Disk Drive with capacity more than 7.8 GB. 3.0 Copyright and Trademark Information ________________________________________ The following terms, are registered trademarks of the International Business Machines Corporation in the United States, or other countries, or both: o IBM o OS/2 o Warp Other company, product, and service names may be trademarks or service marks of others.
