This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Otherwise, this license is governed by the laws of the country in which you acquired the Program. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation: -------------- 1) Just download the file AXCOPY.ZIP on your PS and use PKZIP to UNZIP the file, you will get ONE file : AXCOPY.CMD 2) This is just a REXX pgm you have nothing special to do except change the name of the unit on which the temporary files are created - The default unit is C: - If you would like to change it, go to the end of the PGM and change it in the unit_def parameter ----------------------------------------------------------------------- How to run the program: ------------------------ 1) To run the program just type the name of pgm: AXCOPY -you will first be prompted to enter the name of two directories -until at least ONE directorie is not a valid directory you'll stay on this panel (press tab key to change field, ESC key to escape or ENTER key to valid). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Functions: ------------- 2) On the next panel you choose what you want to do a) just have lists of files candidate for copy b) make copies of a set of file or directories The possible comparisons are: 1-files with the same name but with different date of last modify. 2-all files in both directories(including subdirectories) 3-only files that are in ONE directory and not in the other 4-directories(with no files, useful to save desktop) ---> If you choose to have lists, then the program will create TWO files INFOS.A contains the files with recent date on directory A INFOS.B contains the files with recent date on directory B and the program will call E.EXE to edit these two files ---> If you choose to update (XCOPY) then a third pannel will be displayed asking you if -you like to update only one directory(and sub) -you like to update both directories(and sub) depending on your choice the set of files concerned will be copied using XCOPY the program will create the same TWO files INFOS.A contains the files with recent date on directory A INFOS.B contains the files with recent date on directory B and the program will call E.EXE to edit these two files if a problem occurs then the program creates the file INFOR.ERR whith the name of the files which have not been processed. and the program will call E.EXE to edit this files ---------------------------------------------------------------------- limitations: ------------- 1) When the name of a directory is just a name of unit (C:) then just the files in the ROOT are processed. 2) The program will not run to backup ONE directory which contains no files AND no subdirectories 3) If the target directory does not exist it will be created 4) If you are trying to backup a DESKTOP then ONLY the directories (and sub) will be creted, (and no file will be copied),so you HAVE to do it after,using the ALL FILES option -----------------------------------------------------------------------
