POV-Ray & PREditor v. 0.7.2 (PREditor (POV-Ray Qt frontend), 6/3/2016, Mentore Siesto) Readme/What's new
This is the OS/2 port of PovRAY Editor, a Qt frontend to POV-Ray (Persistence of Vision Ray Tracer). If you don't know what POV-Ray is, or never were interested in 3D image and scenes production, you should definitely consult the POV-Ray website at http://www.povray.org/ and the website of this software, located at https://sourceforge.net/projects/preditor/. As for other software ports, I didn't have much time to try it. I can say it open up and calls POV-Ray nicely (thus it SHOULD work fine) but I couldn't try its results - hadn't got time to setup it completely. By the way: I included an executable copy of my POV-Ray 3.6 port, but I know almost for sure that it does not work correctly. It was included only to test the basic functionalities of the software. You can download a complete POV-Ray distribution on hobbes. By the way, I surely will try and port the latest POV-Ray distribution (v.3.7) as soon as I have got enough time and test it thoroughly. As for my other ports, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I won't be held responsible for any damage which should occur by using or misusing this software. Even so, I didn't modify nor alter the source code in any way, so it *should* work with the pros and cons of the original distribution. You are welcome to email me with suggestions or criticism about my ports: they will surely come as a help and will be much appreciated. Have fun Mentore Siesto

POV-Ray & PREditor v. 0.1s (7/11/1997, Stephane Charette) Readme/What's new
Name: plnch01S.zip Text: POV front-end (same as PLNCH01G but does _NOT_ require VAC++) O/S: OS/2 2.x (?) and higher, Visual Age C++ is _NOT_ required Source: included, uploaded by author Replaces: none My name: Stephane Charette My email: charette@writeme.com Proposed dir: /pub/os2/apps/graphics/ray/pov This is _EXACTLY_ the same version as PLNCH01G.ZIP, except that I've statically linked the entire application so that VisualAge C++ is not required to run it. Note that this version is more than 700kb while the dynamic version is about 80kb! :) Stephane Charette

POV-Ray & PREditor v. 4.01 (20/11/1994, Bill Pulver) Readme/What's new
Thank You for trying POVFrame. Version 4.01 has several new features beyond 2.x including 2 more LIB paths, the ability to change the name of the OS/2 and DOS POV-Ray EXE files it will look for and a preset image resolutions window. It also adds buttons that deal directly with the current image file selected. Editing, Rendering, seting output resolution & Viewing of the completed image may be done with single button clicks from here. *************** IMPORTANT **************** Replace your exising VROBJ.DLL with the one included here. POVFrame 4.01 was compiled with version 2.1 of VX-REXX. See 'Whats New' for more. Version 4.01 adds the ability to use the protected mode REGISTERED version of the modeler program MORAY with POVFrame. You *** MUST *** copy the file MRAY.BAT to the directory your copy of MORAY is in *** AND *** EDIT it to match your system. ****************************************** See the text *in* MRAY.BAT for the specifics. MORAY *will not run*, BOTH the Shareware 'test drive' version as well as the registered version unless the MRAY.BAT file is customized to your machine and placed with MORAY.EXE. (Configure POVFrame it's self in exactly the same way as before. It now calls the batch file <MRAY.BAT> instead of directly starting MORAY.) The programs main DOC file is now an OS/2 INF file. To view it from w/in POVFrame click on 'Help' then POVFrame DOCs. To view it from OS/2 type: VIEW POVFRAME.INF May now be registered online. On CIS type GOSWREG & select program POVFRAME Verison 3.0. Program ID number 3208. (It's still version 3 for the description there. The ID number, 3208, is all thats needed.) Have Fun! --- Bill Pulver 11/20/94 ------------------------------------------------ This archive includes an OS/2 native compile of POV-Ray 2.2. It has been customized to run from the POVFrame environment. The compile included in this archive was created with IBM's CSet/2 C/C++ version 2.1 compiler. All "spec" problems seem to be now resolved, however, for the moment I'll leave this advisory in. PLEASE let me know of any problems you may have with this compile, and, if possible, send me a "stripped" version of the image that will duplicate the problem. Advisory (May no longer apply but it needs more testing....): ============================================================================= IBM's CSet/2 C++ seems to have some math problems at the moment. This version will -NOT- abort on errors as previous ones did. IT MAY, HOWEVER, GENERATE IMAGES WITH "FLY-SPECS" IN THEM!!!! The program will ignore most math errors but this can result in miscolored pixels in some images. It -will- however correctly trace *many* of the images in the POVSCN "MATH" subdirectory that the other version will abend on. PLEASE, PLEASE, run small test traces of your POV-Ray images and examine them for mis-colored/black pixels BEFORE running a high rez anti-aliased version of the image!!!!!!!! If this compile produces a defective image the "official" DOS compile will probably produce a correct one. (320x200 should give enough resolution to see if problems exist.) ============================================================================== The compile was also optimized for use on 80486DX based machines (this also provides a performance boost on P5 based machines) but will run on 386 based machines too. Version 2.1 of CSet/2 will optimize all of POV-Rays modules now. As a result this compile runs somewhat faster than previous versions did. --- Bill Pulver
