Mup (Musical Publisher) is a little command-line program which reads an ASCII file containing specific directives and gives in output brilliant PostScript files containing musical scores with notes, staffs, clefs, tempo and key signature, with many features and facilities.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory and unpack to destination folder. See below for download link(s).

Following is a list of prerequisites that you have to manually install in order to have the program working:

kLIBC / GCC Runtime Library

You can install the prerequisites with rpm running the following string in a command line:

yum install libc libgcc1 libssp libstdc++ libstdc++6 libsupc++ libsupc++6

Mup (Musical Publisher) v. 7.2 (5/2/2025, Mentore Siesto)	Readme/What's new	This is the latest version of mup, the music publishing software from arkkra enterprises (www.arkkra.com). The guys at arkkra made us all a great favor giving this software open source and free of charge, so I decided to keep up with OS/2 porting with this latest release. For more information about mup and how to use it, please navigate the share\ subdirectory of this tree to find HTML and MAN files. This distribution does not contain the sources: I removed the source code of some of the original utilities, most notably mupdisp and mupprnt, which are basically useless since (almost?) every OS/2 user has a working Ghostscript installed and thus can work with PS files. Also, mupmate is not included here since it uses FLTK and X11, so I'll try ASAP to create an OS/2 version working with REXX and DrDialog or GPF Rexx (hope I'll find the time). Please do consider the idea of sending me some feedback and, if you like me to keep up writing and porting OS/2 software, maybe sponsoring me a little. Thanks in advance and happy typesetting Mentore
