Almost VIO Fonts v. 1.1 (zip, 15/7/2019, Alex Taylor) Readme/What's new
Almost VIO OS/2 Bitmap Font Version 1.1 Almost VIO is an OS/2 fixed-width bitmap font designed to be suitable for programming and editor text at higher screen resolutions. Almost VIO was inspired by the 6-point (7x15) size of the OS/2 terminal font "System VIO". As System VIO has a dramatically different appearance at higher point sizes, Almost VIO was created to provide larger sizes in a style similar to the 7x15 version. Version 1.1 introduces an extra weight, "Almost VIO Medium", at the 13-point size. This is slightly darker than the standard (light) weight, and is provided mainly for the benefit of people who run very high resolution screens and want something that looks a bit more substantial. Installation Extract (unzip) ALMVIO.FON from the distribution package. If this is your first time installing Almost VIO, use the Font Palette (choose 'Edit', then 'Add', and type in the name of the temporary directory where you placed the file ALMVIO.FON). To upgrade from an earlier version of Almost VIO, the following special steps are required, as the file will be "locked" by PMSHELL (meaning that you cannot simply copy the new file over the old one). To replace a previously-installed version, you must either: a. Unlock the file ALMVIO.FON using a tool like REPLMOD or UNLOCK (the latter is part of the LXLite package and is installed by default in both ArcaOS and eComStation 2.x). b. Boot to a command prompt, separate maintenance system, or bootable CD and replace the file from there. Supported Characters/Codepages Almost VIO (all sizes) supports the following EUGL characters sets: Latin-1, Latin-2, PC Extended, Cyrillic, Baltic, Hebrew (including cantillation marks and Yiddish), Greek and Halfwidth Kana (Japanese). Terms of Use Almost VIO may be freely used, redistributed, and/or modified, by any individual, group or organization, for any purpose. (C) 2006-2019 Alexander Taylor http://www.altsan.org

Comments

The screenshot is incorrect and shows the old version, which is different in several ways. Please use http://www.altsan.org/creative/fonts/almost_vio.png and http://www.altsan.org/creative/fonts/almost_vio_medium.png instead. Incidentally, neither Innotek Font Engine not FreeType/2-IFI are relevant to bitmap fonts.
