Ash è una piccola shell che assomiglia alla 'sh' del Sistema V. Il suo potere risiede nella sua dimensione e nella sua compatibilità. È circa 77k.

La shell Almquist (nota anche come Shell, ash e sh) è una shell leggera di Unix originariamente scritta da Kenneth Almquist alla fine degli anni '80. Inizialmente un clone della variante System V.4 della shell Bourne, sostituiva la shell Bourne originale nelle versioni BSD di Unix rilasciate nei primi anni '90.

Questo software è distribuito con due modalità:
  • come pacchetto compresso, da scaricare e installare manualmente; se ci sono prerequisiti da soddisfare, andranno anch'essi scaricati e installati manualmente;
  • come pacchetto RPM, installabile tramite il gestore pacchetti rpm preferito, che provvederà a scaricare e installare sia il software che gli eventuali prerequisiti.
Scegli la modalità di installazione che preferisci, tenendo conto del fatto che non tutte le versioni del software sono disponibili per entrambe le modalità.

Installazione con rpm

Questo programma si può installare usando il gestore pacchetti rpm. Vedi sotto per la stringa di installazione. I prerequisiti richiesti sono gestiti dal gestore pacchetti e, se necessario, scaricati e installati automaticamente.

This is BSD Ash ported to emx/os2. The original port was made by Juan Jose Garcia Ripoll <worm@arrakis.es>. The old document is in the doc.old directory. I make this new port by applying the modification to the source code from FreeBSD. In addition, I fix some small bugs to make it as compatible to Unix-sh as possible. Some features are turned off to make the binary as small as possible. These features are not necessary for running as a shell command interpreter for GNU autoconf. The result is a small binary about 77K. The size is less than half that of other ported Unix shells. *** NOTE *** The program name is changed to ash.exe to avoid conflict with Korn shell of the perl port. If you use perl/os2, you should NOT change the name to sh.exe.
