SeaMonkey is a community effort to deliver an high production-quality releases of web browser code derived from "Mozilla Application Suite". The program includes the email client.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Available both as ZIP and WarpIN package:

  • download the ZIP or 7 ZIP package to temporary directory and unpack it to destination folder, use the browser to install langpacks;
  • the WarpIN package is self-installing.

  • Seamonkey must be installed on a partition that supports long filenames, i.e. HPFS or JFS.
  • Before starting the program, it is useful setting Mozilla_Home variable in Config.Sys file, to preserve profile and plugin directories and make program upgrades easier. For example:
    Then you can keep all your plugins in %MOZILLA_HOME%\Mozilla\Plugins directory.
  • To enable Innotek Fontengine (only for old releases) the configuration registry key is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Innotek\Innotek Font Engine\Applications
    Attention!! for Fontengine 2.60 the key is:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Innotek\Innotek Font Engine\Applications
    The value, for both is:
    DWORD: Enabled = 0x00000001
  • You can load XUL.DLL in high memory using Highmem.

You can install the prerequisites with rpm running the following string in a command line:

yum install libstdc++6 nspr nss libicu pixman cairo pango fontconfig freetype libkai libvpx libjpeg-turbo libpng zlib bzip2 hunspell libcx
