The Backup Demon/2 - Automatic Data Backup and Recovery onto a Internet-Server.

BkpDemon is a program for data backup and recovery which stores the data on an internet server:

Backup Demon/2 features:

Automatic: Scans your disk(s) permanently for modified / new files
Automatic and manual operation
Recognizes all modified / new files and uploads them to the backup-server
Runs in the background
Profiles: lets you define profiles to specify what data is processed (and which are not)
Internet: uploads modified / new files to your Backup-Server in the internet (any FTP-server)
The backup-server may be a local drive instead, such a local device: the Backup-Server may be a local storage device, e.g. a CD-writer
Versioning: backuped data are store under their original file date (versioning), implementing version-management (fallback to any older version possible!)
Security: uses encryption on uploaded data (optional), optional, files on the backup-server are encrypted
Query function for the stored data

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory and unpack to destination folder. Run install.cmd. See below for download link(s).

Installation ------------- Prerequisites: (1) Warp4 is required (because of incompatibilities in tcpip with Warp3) (2) Connection to the internet (only if you choose a remote server as a backup medium, not if you choose to use a local drive instead). Step-1: Open an OS/2-commandline session Step-2: create a BkpDemon-directory of your choice Step-3: unzip the distribution-file into that directory Step-4: run INSTALL.CMD The installation-program will ask to modify your config.sys for you. If you don't want this, you must do the modification yourself: Add the cdmagic-path to the PATH and LIBPATH variable. * After installation you must perform a re-boot of your pc * 3.
