A two or three page help window is included. Copy, Move, and Delete functions work from the bounce-bar or marked files, whichever is selected. There are two methods to copy/move files to another drive or directory. At the prompt the drive\path may be typed in, or hit F5 , enter the drive letter, select directory for the final target. You are prompted during the above sequence. An additional choice in this sequence is after F5 is hit, you may enter a drive\path which will build a partial tree on another drive, or hit F5 again to select a directory on the same drive. Print, Rename, View, change Attrib, and Execute work from the bounce-bar only. ViewText is intended as a quick viewer of files. It displays one page at a time with no PgUp function. It has a seven character text filter allowing viewing of all types of files. FileView is a browser obtained from PCTOOLS and is written by Jack Botner. It has its own built-in help facility. This must be in the DOS path or DOS current directory. FindText is used to search the selected directory for a particular word or phrase. The correct upper/lower case must be entered. CNN (Copy to New Name) allows for copying and renaming a file in one operation. In the File-Name screen, holding down the shift key and entering a letter will jump the bounce-bar directly to the first file in the current directory starting with the keyed letter. Shift-letter again will jump to the next, etc. When 'not found' is displayed, the next shift-letter will jump back to the top. Selecting Directory Information from the Directory Tree screen will scan the tree and add the number of files and directory size to the displayed directory names. The F2 key will then switch this added information off/on. FileSearch scans the current directory tree for DOS filenames/filetypes. Wildcard characters (* and ?) may be used in the search. For example, c*.* will find all files beginning with C and having any extension characters. Note that you must leave off the trailing '.*' to find files with no extension. ESC key will, in most cases, back out of any current operation. There is also an optional profile supplied which will allow up to nine special commands. If this is used, the command title will be displayed on Help window 3 in the File-Name screen. Read the profile for instructions. F-Tree may be started with an optional drive\path parameter. ex.. ftree d or d:\ will start out with the D drive directory tree. ftree d:\dos will give just the DOS directory (faster scan) ftree d:\d will give the DOS dir and any other ROOT dir starting with D. Don't use wildcards ( * or ? ). This option also works with F5 (change/update drive). To change to another drive and save time re-building a possibly very large tree, hit F5 and enter the drive\path as above. Files included: Ftree.exe Ftreepro.ref (this must be renamed to Ftree.pro if you want to use it) Fileview.exe Ftree.ava Version History: Ver 1.1 12-6-93 Total bytes of marked files now displayed. Original palette colors restored at exit. (if applicable) Control-break (ctrl-c) program exit now controlled. Added key to get disk free space on any disk. This is in addition to the normal bytes free display. Will now use full screen if more than 25 screen rows are set. Miscellaneous minor bug fixes. Ver 1.2 1-5-94 Directory information option added to tree screen. F2 displays number of files per directory and directory sizes. (thanks Frans and others) Method of changing file attributes is improved. Corrected minor bug in copying marked files and disk becomes full. Minor improvements in Findtext and Viewtext. Fixed bug in make, rename, delete directory when error occurs. Ver 1.3 1-17-94 CNN (Copy to New Name) added to files screen. Filesearch capability added to the tree screen. (Thanks Martyn) Directory information now also displays the total number of files in tree. DOS version number displayed. Fixed midnight time stamp error displayed on the files screen. Several other minor improvements/bug fixes. Ver 1.4 2-2-94 The tree display is now sorted. ( Thanks Joe, Martyn ) The shift-letter method of jumping to file names now also works for directory names on the tree screen. In addition, the jump method has been improved in that shift-> is no longer required to continue down the list. The same shift-letter will advance down until the last found name, then reset back to the first. Jumping to shift-numbers (file/directory names starting with a number) is now operational. File names containing imbedded spaces can now be deleted. Previous versions would give a Filename or path error. Fixed bug causing erratic false write protect error messages in certain 'fast' PC's. Other bug fixes involving overwrites of screen in FindText and Tree under specific conditions. Ver 1.41 2-6-94 Bugfix only. Corrected error handling problem in file-delete routine introduced by version 1.4. Ver 1.5 2-22-94 The tree display can start up with specified directories. When creating or deleting directories the drive will not be rescanned, thus saving time re-building the tree. Any directory (except the root) can now be deleted. Previously, deleting the starting (or current DOS) directory was not allowed. Special thanks to Shlomo for helping with the above improvements. Progress bar graphical type display added to show realtime status when copying / moving / deleting marked files. Space available data now updated while deleting marked files. Number of files marked now displayed along with the bytes marked. DOS version number should now be correct when running in the OS2 DOS box. And thanks to Roberto for his suggestions and testing of the above. Minor bugfixes and improvements in finding Fileview and Alt-num files. Ver 1.6 3-23-94 Selecting Alt-A on marked files changes attributes on all marked files. Free space on target now checked before each copy attempt. The file marker is now removed as files are copied / moved / deleted. Display of time, date, and attributes (if any) of highlighted directory now available. Directory attributes may be changed. Copy Directory and Copy Path added. Copy Path will copy all directories in the branch beginning with the highlighted directory. Delete Path added, this will delete all directories in the branch beginning with the highlighted directory. Extra Help window added to the Tree screen. When using F5 to change or update drive, a drive\path may now be entered which will save time in scanning the disk by displaying only the given directory(s). See explanation in above text (optional drive\path parameter). Again, thanks to Shlomo for the 'Tree' feedback. Ftree now will run with the green monochrome monitor.
