eAccounts v. 1.1 () Readme/What's new
eAccounts v1.1 eAccounts is an account manager for OS/2 and eCs. Its is a data base application to manage your account data like passwords, PIN codes, user-ids etc. The database is able to record text and binary data (e.g. key files for registered shareware). The data will be encrypted, the access to the data base is protected with a major password. Requirements - OS/2 or eCs with installed REXX. - Encryption requires the additional module encrypt.dll form the BlowFish archive. Get it from Hobbes: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/encrypt/bfish163.zip Installation Just unzip the archive to a directory on harddrive. Run install.cmd from a commandline to create objects on your desktop. Then the LNGSetup will be started, and you have to select your language. The encrypt.dll (not included) must be placed in the eAccounts program path. For deinstallation just delete all installed files. There are no entries in ini files or config.sys changes. Update Just copy the new files in the existing eAcconts directory. We recommend to make a backup of your existing *.ini and *.eac (eAccounts data base) files before installing a new version. Usage First create a category. Then add an account. EAccounts will automatically switch to 'editmode'. In 'editmode' you will get write access to the data fields. Enter your data, and switch back to 'browse mode' using the button top right to save the data. You are able to rename and delete categories and accounts, but beware: deleting a category deletes all included accounts and files. With 'include' its possible to add key files to the data base, later 'extract' saves the file back to disk. To enter customized labels to your data base fields open the properties dialog and switch to the notebook page 'labels'. Enter your personal strings. Switch to the notebook page 'encryption' to protect you data base with a password (data base will be saved encrypted), or to remove your password (data base will be decryted). Enter your passord twice and push the button 'encrypt'. Encryption is possible ONLY when you place file 'encrypt.dll' in the program directory. Just a note: please don't write me emails if your password is lost. There is no chance for me to read a blowfish encrypted data base without the right password, and eAccounts has no build-in back door. To change your password open the data base, remove the old password, close eAccounts and restart it, and finally add a new password. CSV Export eAccounts is able to export your data base to a csv file. The first line will contain the header with the data base field labels in this order: "Category";"Account";"User ID";"Password";"Location";"Notes";"Filename The following lines contain the data, line per line. Data fields are written in quotes, seperated by a semicolon. Some chars will be translated: Tab: "/t" Line break: "/n" or "/n/r" It makes sense to open the csv file with your favorit spread sheet application and print out a hard copy. Command line parameters The default data base file is DATA.EAC located in program path. To point to another file, just enter the filename with path and drive as parameter to eAccounts program object, or start eAcc.exe form commandline and add the file as parameter. Multi Language Support All labels, strings etc. are saved in an external ascii file. Feel free to edit this file, or save this file to *.lng, and translate the contents. Attention: edit only the strings between the quotes! Insert a tilde (~) to make a character of a menu item to an ALT hotkey. To change the language run LNGSetup.exe. This tool will list all language files which are located in the current directory. Select one and hit Ok to change the language. This tool and the *.LNG files must be placed in the same directory as eAcc.exe. Some translations are under construction, so please contact us via email so far you have time and delight to make a translation to your language. Known bugs Sometimes large key files will be truncated after including. Please don't include binary files larger than 10 kB in the database, or at least make some tests and be sure to have a backup of the key files available.
