OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Openoffice.org is compatible with all other major office suites. Latest versions are the effort of bww bitwise works GmbH; a contribution to development is required to be entitled to access them.

Link to fill a bug, considering also the use of debug symbols, which make easy bugs identification.

The application is available in the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Netherlands, Russian.

Openoffice (by Sun Microsystems first, and after by Oracle Corporation) is the heir of StarOffice (by StarDivision) and inside its code there was already support for OS/2, since 1995 (ver. 3.0).

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Self-installing WarpIN package. See below for download link(s). 400 MB are needed for the installation. You can install all the dependencies with rpm. Alternatively, an additional WPI package is available for download.

You can load the program in high memory using highmem.

Following is a list of prerequisites that you have to manually install in order to have the program working:

Some remarks for this release: This AOO release needs the latest ICU library. So if AOO doesn't start after installation make sure you have the latest ICU installed (which is version 68.1). The second pitfall might be you miss libxslt. This lib is not installed by default in ArcaOS. Development units help to pay the costs for developing OS/2 compatible ports of Apache OpenOffice. Development unit purchases help to ensure that development will continue. Note: you are not buying an Apache OpenOffice license. Apache OpenOffice is licensed under the terms of the Apache License v2.0.
