Jam is a program construction tool, like make.

Jam recursively builds target files from source files, using dependency information and updating actions expressed in the Jambase file, which is written in jam's own interpreted language. The default Jambase is compiled into jam and provides a boilerplate for common use, relying on a user-provide file "Jamfile" to enumerate actual targets and sources.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory and unpack to destination folder. See below for download link(s).

Jam v. 2.6 (13/4/2018, Johann Oskarsson (Myrkraverk)) Readme/What's new
About ----- The OS/2 and ArcaOS port was done by Johann 'Myrkraverk' Oskarsson. For inquiries and/or bug reports, please write to johann@myrkraverk.com and mention Jam, ArcaOS and/or OS/2 in the subject. The detials about the port can be read about here: http://www.myrkraverk.com/blog/2018/04/building-jam-2-6-on-os2-with-openwatcom/ Happy building. Installation ------------ To install on ArcaOS, just copy the bin.os2x86\jam.exe file to %UNIXROOT%\usr\local\bin and create the directory if required. The UNIXROOT is typically C: so just copy bin.os2x86\jam.exe c:\usr\local\bin\ If you need to create the directory, just mkdir c:\usr\local mkdir c:\usr\local\bin before you copy the file. Using Jam ---------- The default rules for OS/2 include only [*] support for the OpenWatcom compiler suite. It expects and uses the WATCOM environment variable to find the compiler. To use it with some other compiler will require writing or rewriting the basic rules built into Jam. I have not researched how much effort that takes. If that's important to you, and you can't figure it out, please write to the email address given above; and I'll give it a try. -- Johann 'Myrkraverk' Oskarsson 12.04.2018 [*] As far as I can tell, from looking at the source code.
