New Athena Unicode è un font gratuito multilingua distribuito dall'associazione Filologica Americana con licenza OpenFontLicense. Segue l'ultima versione dello standard Unicode ed include caratteri per lingua Inglese, lingue dell'Europa orientale, Greco politonico, Copto, antico Italico, trascrizione dell'Egiziano Demotico (incluso Arabo), così come simboli metrici ed altri caratteri usati dalla scuola classica.

Questo software è distribuito come pacchetto compresso, da scaricare e installare manualmente; se ci sono prerequisiti da soddisfare, andranno anch'essi scaricati e installati manualmente.

E' possibile migliorare la visualizzazione dei fonts utilizzando il pacchetto Innotek Font Engine oppure il pacchetto Freetype/2 ed aggiungendo al registro di configurazione il valore "Enabled=dword:00000001" per l'applicazione desiderata (se supportata) nelle sottochiavi specifiche di: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\InnoTek\InnoTek Font Engine\Applications\]".

July 2015: 5.002 --The glyphs for capital stigma (U+03da) and for capital modern koppa (U+03de) have been revised for better matching of the lowercase forms. The previous shapes were based on much earlier versions of the Unicode charts and should have been revised long ago. The regular and the styled versions are now all at version 5.002, dated July 12, 2015.
