CronRGF.cmd is a REXX tool modelled after the cron utility of Unix and it allows you to specify in a control file (crontab) at which times and dates a command should be executed repeatedly.

CronEdit.exe is a PM tool that allows for visually editing cron-files, so "amateurs" and "lazy" people should be able to take advantage of cronrgf (or the like) immediately.

Originally developed by Rony Flatscher, tools are now maintained by Steven Levine. Sources are included.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package: download to temporary directory and unpack to destination folder. See below for download link(s).

Following ones are the download links for manual installation:

CronRGF and CronEdit v. 2.0.8 (10/5/2019, Steven Levine) Readme/What's new
cronrgf 2.0.8beta2 Fri May 10 11:57:33 2019 This is a update to Rony Flatscher's cronrgf 2.0.3 This readme file is a changelog and includes notes that have not yet made it into CronRGF.txt. == Changes == 2019-05-10 SHL Rework failing command handling - avoid death more often 2019-04-23 SHL Show version in log 2018-02-11 SHL Use %LOGFILES% if defined 2016-05-30 SHL Rework command execution error handling - log and continue 2016-03-30 SHL Use Ctrl-C to request crontab re-read, use 2 Ctrl-Cs to stop 2014-07-13 SHL Support /step syntax; correct command line parsing 2013-12-21 SHL Correct typos in this document 2010-09-03 SHL Rework error handler 2010-09-03 SHL Rework command quoting to avoid start errors == cronrgf.txt errata == -- Ctrl-C Handling -- A single Ctrl-C or Ctrl-Break requests CronRGF to re-read the crontab file. Use 2 Ctrl-Cs or 2 Ctrl-Breaks to terminate CronRGF. -- Testmode -- Testmode (/T) shows what will be executed and when it will be executed. Commands are never executed in testmode. Pressing enter advances simulated time to next dispatch time. Testmode can be run while the production cronrgf active, but logs will be sullied. -- Logfile -- Cronrgf keeps logfile closed when not writing so it is OK to edit carefully. Logfile is written to %LOGFILES% or current directory. -- Commands -- Commands are invoked with START so the quoting rules for your shell will apply. Multiple command will need the command separator escaped. == Links == The original 2.0.3 is at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/util/schedule/cronrgf4.zip Steven Levine steve53@earthlink.net
